🚂 History comes rolling back to New Jersey this Sunday in Boonton as the Merci Train makes its grand return!
Missing for over 60 years, one of the 49 gratitude cars from France was rediscovered in a Kansas City warehouse by the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey. This special car, once part of a 1949 gift symbolizing thanks for World War II aid, will re-debut at the Railroad Museum’s annual event. The cars, originally built in the 1890s and famously known in the French military as “40 and 8” for carrying 40 troops or 8 horses, connect deeply with New Jersey's rail history. Don't miss the chance to see the 20th Century Limited’s iconic observation car open to visitors in September. Curious about this unique piece of history? What aspects of rail heritage spark interest the most? ⭐ Dive into a journey of gratitude and engineering marvels!
