Good morning and happy Labor Day! You’ve made it to the pick of the holiday weekend and a top 10 day of the year. Spectacular weather expected today despite a CHILLY start!

Williamstown, MA in the far NW corner was the lowest temp across SNE that I found this am at 41°. Brrr! Mt Washington is at 40° as I type this with a strong NNW wind gusting to 70mph creating a wind chill of 22°. 🥶

Temps will rebound beautifully today to near seasonable levels as most get up to 75-80° today under full sunshine and low dew points. Watch for strong rip currents once again at east facing MA beaches.

Generally a very nice week coming up. Temps and dew points slowly ramp up toward Thursday, the mildest and most humid day this week. A cold front turns it much cooler again for Friday and sets up another nice weekend.

Not many shower chances this week and most of them are timed for night. Wednesday night into early Thursday am, Thursday night into early Friday and Saturday night into early Sunday. The first two look like isolated shower chances…the chance Saturday night may feature more widespread showers. But nothing looks too heavy at the moment and many towns likely will see very little rain this week.

The tropical Atlantic remains quiet as well.

Boaters…Breezy NW winds this morning are strongest in Block Island Sound where the winds are holding steady around 23mph right now. As the tide was coming in earlier against the wind, they were short stacked 2-3s. The tide is coming out now with the wind which should drop the seas and slowly lengthen the durations. From what I can tell it looks like ~2 footers spaced 4.5 seconds currently. Winds should slowly improve today. The next watch out period is Wednesday night and Thursday for strong SW winds and advisory level seas. After Labor Day, I won’t be doing a boating forecast every day - will mainly focus on leading up to the weekend or calling out rough days.

Here’s the detailed forecast through the week:

🏆Today: ☀️ Sunny, crisp and spectacular. Continued very comfortable with low humidity. Highs rebound to 75-80° for most. Low 70s western hills, outer Cape and Nantucket. The pick of the holiday weekend and a top 10 day of the year! Breezy NW winds at the shoreline settle back later.

Tonight: Clear to start trending toward partly cloudy. Lows in the 50s, the coldest spots drop into the upper 40s.

Tuesday: 🌤️ Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 70s to around. 80°. Cooler once again for the outer Cape and Nantucket.

Wednesday: ⛅️🌤️⛅️🌬️ A mix of clouds and sun. Highs in the mid 70s to around 80°. Cooler outer Cape. A touch more humidity moves in from the south thanks to breezy southerly winds.

A few showers possible Wednesday night after midnight and toward daybreak.

Thursday: 💧⛅️🌬️ An early shower possible. Otherwise partly sunny with breezy WSW winds. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Mid 70s hills.

A shower possible Thursday night favoring southern areas.

Friday: 🌤️☀️ Mostly sunny. A few more clouds and a possible sprinkle early along the south coast will give way to mostly sunny skies there too. Much cooler. Highs in the low to mid 70s.

Saturday: 🌤️ Mostly sunny. Highs in the 70s.

A few showers possible Saturday night.

Sunday: 💧🌤️ An early leftover shower and then becoming mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 70s to around 80°.

Have a great day!

Good morning. An upper level disturbance is taking its time moving out of the area. As such, showers have lingered and remain scattered across the area this morning - but they will dissipate and move out this morning and it does turn into a nice afternoon, albeit chilly. Becoming partly to mostly sunny this afternoon (the sun is already coming out across SW CT). Temps right around 70° for the high and there can be a pop up afternoon shower, but less coverage than we saw yesterday afternoon.

BTW, if you are heading to the beach today, dangerous rip currents are expected on east facing MA beaches.

Clear skies and chilly tonight. Most in the 45-55° range.

Labor Day still looks spectacular. The best day of the weekend and a top 10 day of the year. Sunny and dry…mid to upper 70s for most…a couple degrees cooler in the western hills and across the Outer Cape and islands…dew points drop into the upper 40s in some towns…a gentle N to NW breeze. Just perfect. Enjoy!

No big storms through the rest of the week. Temps warm through midweek and we add a slight bit of humidity. A few showers possible Wed night with a warm front. Thursday is warmest and most humid day of the week. We drop back a few degrees late week as drier air moves in. There can be a few more showers with the cold front late Thursday or early Friday. Next weekend looks good at the moment.

Boaters…the rougher seas are east offshore from the Cape, MV & ACK. A small craft advisory is in place there through the day today. Back west through Block Island Sound, no issues near shore. Seas around 2’. It’s breezy now so some shorter chop this am but that improves this afternoon. The next watch out period is Wednesday later in the day and Thursday as southwesterlies crank up with the next brief push of warmer and more humid air.

Have a great day!

Good morning. A beautiful morning out there with temps in the upper 50s to low 60s inland. Mid to upper 60s along the shoreline but the dew points have improved from yesterday morning.

Much of today is very nice, but clouds build this afternoon and quick hit random showers will pop and move north to south. Expect changeable skies…dark clouds threaten, it quickly pours, then the sun comes back, maybe even a rainbow. Timing is after 2pm and they last into the first part of tonight. Eastern MA sees the least activity. These are hit or miss.

Tomorrow is beautiful, almost fall-like… many towns may struggle to even reach 70°. There can be an isolated pop-up shower, but the activity will be much less than today.

🔥Crank up that fire pit tomorrow night as many drop to around 50° or even cooler!

Monday looks perfect….its the pick of the weekend and a top 10 day. Sunshine, low humidity, 3-5° warmer than Sunday with temps in the 70s after that chilly start. A perfect afternoon for a Labor Day cookout! 🍔🌭

Nice weather lingers much of next week too. There can be a few showers Wednesday night…but no big storms and after temps get back to near seasonable levels, it turns cooler again late next week.

Boaters and beachgoers….a small craft advisory is posted for tonight and tomorrow offshore from the Cape and islands where there’s more exposure to long fetch northerly winds. Also, across MA east facing beaches expect dangerous rip currents tomorrow. Further west, no concerns expected across nearshore waters including Block Island Sound through the weekend….seas around 2’.

Here’s the detailed forecast:

Today: ☀️🌤️🌦️🌈 Sunshine gives way to a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon. There will be numerous afternoon/evening quick hit instability showers moving north to south. Changeable skies with ominous clouds. Cooler and comfortable. Highs in the 70s - mildest SW CT where it’s in the upper 70s, coolest eastern coastal MA with temps around 70°. Breezy at the shoreline.

Tonight: Those random showers continue through the first part of the night. Becoming partly cloudy after midnight. Cool and comfortable. Lows in the 50s. The coolest spots in the hills drop into the upper 40s.

Sunday: ⛅️🌤️ Partly sunny early but trending toward mostly sunny skies. An isolated shower or two but much less activity than today. Even cooler, almost fall-like. Highs only in the upper 60s low 70s.

Sunday night grab an extra blanket…Clear and quite cool….lows range from 45-55° across the area!! Brrrr!

🏆Monday - Labor Day: ☀️ Sunny and spectacular after a very chilly start. Continued very comfortable with low humidity. Highs in the 70s. Light winds. The pick of the holiday weekend and a top 10 day of the year!

Tuesday: 🌤️⛅️ Mostly sunny with a few more late day clouds. Highs in the 70s.

Wednesday: ⛅️🌥️⛅️ A mix of clouds and some sun. Highs in the 70s. A touch more humidity.

A few showers possible Wednesday night.

Thursday: 🌤️🌬️ Mostly sunny with breezy westerly winds. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Mid 70s hills.

Friday: ⛅️🌤️☀️ Increasing sunshine. Much cooler. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.

At the moment next weekend looks good!

Have a great day!

Good morning. The last weekend of the “summer season” is upon us. And it’s looking like a very nice Labor Day weekend, but there will be a few quick hit pop up showers to navigate. But not enough to change outdoor plans.

We are starting this morning mild and humid - especially near the southern shoreline, but the dew points will drop through the day today. It will feel much better later today than it does now.

There are also clouds and areas of fog this morning, and the rain that came through many towns last night is moving out from the SE islands as I type this. Mostly sunny skies will develop this morning as temps top out at seasonable levels in the upper 70s to low 80s. The southeast islands and outer Cape stay in the mid 70s. There is a slight chance for a pop up shower later today, but most of you will stay dry.

Tonight is clear to partly cloudy and more comfortable. Lows range from the mid 50s in the hills to the mid 60s at the shoreline. Most inland will be either side of 60°.

Tomorrow we start sunny but cumulus clouds build through the day. The best chance to see a quick hit pop up shower is Saturday afternoon and evening. I do expect many to develop. It’s cooler tomorrow with the inland highs in the mid to upper 70s while SE coastal areas stay in the low to mid 70s. It’s a bit more comfortable too as dew points dial back to the upper 50s to around 60°.

The real crisp air comes in for Sunday and Labor Day as dew points drop into the low to mid 50s. Both days feature mainly sunny skies and temps that are below average. Sunday low to mid 70s will do it for highs and some spots SE at the coast will top out in the upper 60s. Monday is milder with temps in the 70s. Sunday there’s a very slight chance for an isolated late day shower, Monday it should stay dry everywhere.

BTW…quite chilly Saturday and Sunday night. Great fire pit weather 🔥!

Then we turn milder mid next week as temps get up to seasonable levels around 80° inland and we begin to add back more humidity. Later Wed is the next chance for a few showers and thunderstorms.

Boaters….patchy fog this morning but less humid air will make it into the coastal region by later today. Generally, the weekend looks nice for boating across near shore waters with seas around 2’. The only watch out period is later tomorrow, tomorrow night and into Sunday…seas in the 2-3’ range which isn’t bad but durations shorten due to NE to N winds that may gust near to over 20mph at times causing short chop 2-3s. Improvement later Sunday, and Labor Day looks just fine.

Have a great day!

Good morning. Most of the rain is already moving off to the south and east this morning. Just a few widely scattered showers remain. Temperatures are in the 60s inland around 70° near the south coast as milder and more humid air is moving north into SNE.

These rain showers move out shortly and then we will dry out today and eventually see increasing sunshine this afternoon. It turns warmer and more humid today and that will trigger a few late day thunderstorms - an isolated storm may be strong to severe favoring areas to the south and east.

One more swath of rain with embedded thunder moves through overnight tonight near NYC but that may graze SW parts of the area - close call.

Friday things improve….just a slight chance for a late day scattered shower as the humidity drops. Saturday is nice too but more numerous quick hit pop corn showers during the afternoon. With a cold pool of air aloft and steep laps rates, it wouldn’t shock me to see ice pellets mix in somewhere. Eastern inland areas favored for more numerous showers, western areas more isolated showers likely.

Sunday and Monday look great. Sunny and crisp…temps in the 70s…some spots even struggle to reach 70° Sunday. Sunday night downright chilly as a few spots drop into the mid 40s!! 🥶 Monday is a couple degrees warmer than Sunday which is why it’s the pick of the weekend! Tuesday looking very nice too.

Boaters… southerly winds at the shore this morning as that more humid air is pushing in. Patchy fog is around as well. Winds turn more southwesterly this afternoon. Seas across near shore waters 2 to 3 feet today. Watch for storms later today near the south coast. No concerns tomorrow through the weekend as seas near shore should stay below advisory thresholds. Seas generally around 2-3’ give or take near shore through the holiday weekend…Monday less, around 2’. Offshore, Saturday night and Sunday, northerly winds may cause it to be a bit rougher and seas of 3-4’ with shorter durations may approach small craft advisory levels.

Here’s the detailed forecast:

Today: 🌧️☁️🌥️⛅️🌤️⛈️ A few leftover morning showers then clouds will slowly give way to increasing sunshine this afternoon. A few widely scattered late afternoon and evening pop up thunderstorms favor areas south and east of the I-84 corridor - there can be an isolated strong to severe storm. Coolest east, mildest SW. Highs 78-84°. Mid 70s Block, Cape Cod, MV, ACK. Becoming very humid across SNE.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. More clouds toward NYC where a round of showers with embedded thunderstorms moves through overnight. Lows in the 60s, upper 50s hills. Muggy near the shoreline.

Friday: ⛅️🌤️💧A leftover shower possible early to the south, otherwise becoming mostly sunny with a few isolated late day showers popping up. Highs in the low to mid 80s. 75-80° in the hills and at the SE shore. Moderate humidity, dropping in the afternoon.

Saturday: ☀️🌤️🌦️🌬️ Sunshine gives way to a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon. Cooler and comfortable. Numerous late day quick hit instability showers moving north to south. Highs in the 70s. Breezy northerly winds, especially at the shoreline.

Sunday: 🌤️ Mostly sunny. Highs for most in the low to mid 70s - a few spots in eastern MA struggle to reach 70°. Crisp.

Sunday night grab an extra blanket…lows range from 45-55° across the area!! Brrrr!

🏆Monday - Labor Day: ☀️🌤️ Sunny to mostly sunny. Continued comfortable with low humidity. After the very chilly start, high rebound into the 70s, a few inland spots may touch 80°. Light winds. The pick of the holiday weekend!

Tuesday: 🌤️ Mostly sunny with a few more late day clouds. Highs in the 70s.

Wednesday: 🌤️⛅️💧 A mix of clouds and sun with the chance for a late day shower. Highs in the 70s. A touch more humidity.

Have a great day!
