Behind every game-winning moment is a space built for excellence. Designing and constructing athletic facilities requires creating environments that elevate performance, captivate spectators, and unite communities. Every element—from steel framing and curtain walls to exterior canopies, plazas, and specialized track, turf, and playing surfaces—shapes how athletes compete and how fans connect.

Delivering athletic facilities in Michigan depends on architectural vision, construction skill, and specialized know-how—expertise widely available among Construction Association of Michigan member companies, which bring established standards and industry best practices to every project.

Japan Solderless Terminals (JST) is setting a new standard for culturally inspired, environmentally conscious design with its sprawling 10-acre, six-building campus located in Farmington Hills. The facility, partially underground and featuring seven specialized labs ranging from 3,500 to 7,000 SF, serves as the heart of JST’s research and development efforts. Constructed with innovative self-supported timber structures linked by solar-lit corridors, the Test Lab not only reflects JST’s dedication to sustainability but also lays a strong foundation for the campus’s future. The JST campus is thoughtfully situated within a preserved forested environment, reflecting a philosophy that prioritizes ecological stewardship and the seamless integration of workspace and nature to promote well-being and sustainability.

As one of the newest additions to the Grand Rapids skyline, Studio Park Tower combines bold design with urban living. Wrapped in sleek glass and metal, the $60 million high-rise soars 22 stories above downtown, its mirrored surfaces casting shifting reflections across the cityscape. The tower is dedicated to residential living, offering 165 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments on the lower floors while 26 luxury condominiums crown the top four floors. Studio Park Tower is the culmination of a decade-long multiphase development known simply as Studio Park, a project that transformed two surface parking lots into a 570,000-square-foot mixed-use community integrating retail, cinema, dining, offices, residences, and hospitality.

The $30 million Anthony Ragnone Treatment Plant digester in Genesee County is a major investment in public health and the environment. Located on Farrand Road, the three silo-shaped buildings may appear farm-related, but inside is a complex, biology-driven process that safely treats wastewater for release. Since the anaerobic biosolid digester became operational, nearby Mid-Michigan communities have benefited from a more efficient, eco-friendly system. The county plans to use the biogas produced to power the plant, aiming for energy self-sufficiency.

The vibrant and innovative Edward & Rosalie Ginsberg Building is a welcoming hub for University of Michigan students and campus staff alike. Showcasing cutting-edge sustainability features and a thoughtful, community-centered design, the Ginsberg Building beautifully blends modernity with tradition. The building’s design strikes a balance between modern contemporary elements with a hint of traditional and historical. The University and the architectural team aimed to avoid creating a design that felt foreign to the existing neighborhood’s character. The new facility provides flexible spaces for students, staff, and community partners to collaborate and engage, while its sustainable technologies showcase the University’s commitment to environmental responsibility and inclusivity.

The 10-story, 153-room upscale AC Hotel Detroit at the Bonstelle is a new landmark reshaping Midtown’s skyline. The $35 million hotel bridges Detroit’s cultural and commercial corridors, with a bold red brick exterior that pays homage to Midtown’s historic Brush Park neighborhood. A striking glass conservatory connects the hotel to the historic Bonstelle Theatre, preserving its character for performances while providing event space and a vibrant gathering spot that enriches Midtown’s cultural and commercial life.
