Dr. Danielle Spencer, best known for her role as Dee Thomas on the 1970s sitcom 'What’s Happening!!', has passed away at the age of 60. The news was shared by her co-star Haywood Nelson via Instagram, where he paid tribute to her life and legacy. REMEMBERING George Duke Died: 5 August 2013 (age 67 years), Los Angeles, California, United States.
American musician, composer, singer and producer George Duke died from chronic lymphocytic leukemia aged 67. He released over thirty solo albums, of which A Brazilian Love Affair from 1980 was his most popular. Duke worked with other musicians, particularly Frank Zappa and also appeared on Michael Jackson's Off The Wall album.
Duke produced recordings for artists like Jeffrey Osborne, Earth, Wind & Fire, Deniece Williams, and Dianne Reeves, contributing to their critical and commercial success.
He won a Grammy Award for producing Dianne Reeves' album "In The Moment".
Film and Television Work:
He scored music for films like "The Five Heartbeats", "Karate Kid III", and "Leap of Faith".
He served as musical director for numerous television specials, including the Soul Train Music Awards for nine years.
Awards and Recognition:
Duke received multiple Grammy nominations and won two Grammy Awards.
He was named "R&B Keyboardist Of The Year" by Keyboard Magazine for two consecutive years.
In essence, George Duke achieved remarkable success through his musical talent, versatility across genres, impactful collaborations, and contributions as a producer and composer for both music and film/television
