On Saturday, October 11, crews from Station 2 responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building in the 1400 block of East College Avenue.
When Rescue 12 and Engine 12 arrived, they found the driver unresponsive and quickly determined he was in cardiac arrest.
Firefighters removed the driver from the vehicle and immediately began CPR. Within seconds of applying the AED, a shock was delivered, and CPR continued. After two shocks and several minutes of effective resuscitation efforts, the driver regained a pulse and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.
After a few weeks and a triple bypass surgery, he’s recovering well! Trevor and his wife Dee Dee visited Headquarters today to thank the crew who helped save his life and express their gratitude to the entire Normal Fire Department and the broader first responder community.
