Ledge Mule Press

Ledge Mule Press Ledge Mule Press was founded by Dave Torneo, Ross Gay, and Chris Mattingly in 2014 in Bloomington, Indiana. All books are sold at affordable prices. Enjoy!

Ledge Mule Press is dedicated to publishing books by poets we love and respect in limited editions of 300 or less, sometimes using letterpress, woodblock print, and a variety of other handmade techniques. But we also use basic conventional forms of printing to make handsome books you don't mind stuffing in your back pocket as you ramble your neighborhood or along a riverbank or an urban canyon or

wild coastal headland. You might even want to scribble your own poem on the back page. We often present our books to surrounding communities via readings.

But I think if you were messing around with arts and not taking it seriously— now’s the time to take it seriously, and I don’t think we have to labor all the time and be martyrs, I’m not saying that, necessarily—I’m just interested in getting more serious about my writing and I want to encourage other people to do it too, and I also want to do it in the spirit of joy..." Yalie Kamara as quoted in José Vadi's profile in Wolfman New Life Quarterly. Please read the whole piece. You will be happy you did.

The Thursday night crowd packed Oakland’s East Bay Booksellers to hear the poetry of one of their own. A framed painting of a bald bearded man hugging an even taller fish somewhere in a far away field of magical daisies looms behind and above the empty brown podium. Rows of folded chairs are slalo...
