* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations
of 2 to 5 inches and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an
inch.

* WHERE...Madison and Southern Oneida counties.

* WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 2 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will move into the area early this
evening, before mixing with sleet, freezing rain, and rain
overnight and early Saturday morning. Precipitation likely
changes back to snow by late Saturday morning.

Snow Squall Warning for northwestern Madison County in central New York. This warning is in effect until 11:30 AM EST Saturday. Here are the details:
Hazard: Intense bursts of heavy snow, gusty winds leading to blowing snow, and visibility rapidly falling to less than one-quarter mile.
Impact: Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes. Wet roadways will quickly freeze, and black ice may cause roads, bridges, and overpasses to become slick and hazardous.
Locations impacted: Syracuse, Clay, Rome, Cicero, De Witt, Lysander, Van Buren, Oneida, Baldwinsville, and North Syracuse. This includes the following highway exits: Interstate 90 between 34A and 39 and New York Interstate 81 between 17 and 311.
Please exercise caution if you’re in the affected area. Slow down, turn on your headlights, and be prepared for sudden changes in road conditions. During snow squalls, visibility may suddenly drop to near zero in whiteout conditions. Stay safe!

up to 20 mph.

tomorrow

A combination of dry vegetation, relative humidity lowering into
the 15 to 25% range, and winds gusting to around 10 to 15 mph will
result in increased risk for wildfires today. Fires that start
could spread quickly; therefore, outdoor burning is not
recommended.
