2,555 days since your life was taken. 2,555 days that I have fought for the truth. Mistake after mistake clearly documented on this page. When will Highland County Sheriff’s office man up and be honest? When will those who know what happened come forward? When will the mistakes that were made make change? Every citizen in Highland County should want to make sure this isn’t one of your family members next.

To the ones who took an oath - who was your oath to? Protect and serve who exactly?

I’m still here - still waiting. I’m not going anywhere because Amber’s life was important. We need answers and the truth.

December 30th we should be celebrating your birthday. This year looks so much different. You received your birthday present in Heaven early this year.

December 26th our dad passed away. Tomorrow has been a hard day since 2018 but now I have to bury my Dad. I’ve always tried to make Amber’s birthday easier every year for my parents. Tomorrow will be so hard for all of us especially my mom. They just celebrated their anniversary a few weeks ago. 45 years together.

Life seems so unfair sometimes. We are left to grieve and try to make it the best we can. I know they are both together and in a better place but it sure sucks for us down here. 💔

My beautiful sister who was TAKEN from our family. Bob - I hope you enjoy your thanksgiving holiday with your family.... we will FOREVER be missing her. The very least you could do is answer our questions. I'm still not exactly sure why you choose to be silent on this. The very same issues that the Sheriff's dept had in 2018 are STILL affecting the citizens you SERVE. When you are surrounded by your family celebrating the holidays remember this face.
WE ARE STILL HURTING AND STILL WAITING FOR ANSWERS.

Just a reminder, Bob I’m still waiting on an explanation. You were on scene at 10:10 per your report but the first photo taken by your department issued camera that the timestamp was confirmed as correct wasn’t until 11:15.

WHAT DID YOU DO FOR AN HOUR?!

I hope you are really proud of how transparent you’ve been to my grieving family. What keeps you from telling the truth? What are you doing for your dept so that this never happens again to another family? Thinking about retirement maybe?

It’s right here documented in black and white by your own report! So which is it? Were you on scene for an hour by yourself or did you not show up until someone else called the fire in?

Oh, that brings me to another question why did you say you thought it was a domestic violence situation when there was another call made about a structure fire. Not to mention my sister said it on the phone! You remember at Amber’s funeral when you said “I just thought to myself what did she do now.” My question for you is what did you do or not do?

I’m ready for the conversation when you are. Until then I’ll just keep reminding you about all the lies.

Confidential informants, illegal searches, profiling, etc. I love that someone was brave enough to challenge “the system” and won!

I wonder if Bob Kelly learned his lesson or maybe this is still continuing? This article is a must read.

This doesn’t mean anything (at least not to anyone else that I’ve brought this up to) but it sure means a lot to me. The date Verizon cut off Amber’s phone for nonpayment. If you’ve read the posts you know this was AFTER her iMessages were turned off. Of course, that doesn’t matter anyway considering someone opened my snap to her on the one year anniversary of her death but again WHO CARES? Not a single person who was apart of her “investigation”. They didn’t find her cell phone, they didn’t want the gun that was found, they didn’t question the person who allegedly had texts that Amber was being followed the night she died, they didn’t want to hear anything that would lead to any other possibilities.

What they didn’t know is Amber’s little sister would seek answers. Come hell or high water the truth will come out. I will continue my fight for answers because that is exactly what my family deserves. You all should be ashamed of yourselves for what you’ve put my family through.

Some days are better than others, but the hole in my heart forever remains. Amber didn’t take jokes very well, in fact not at all haha. I have shared so much about the incident on this page, but not many memories. She was so easy to p**s off. I miss giving her hell. I miss all the little things. You never heal. You just learn to live without. I wish she were here. I don’t believe anyone understands the everlasting impact these unanswered questions have on our family.

To everyone involved I hope tomorrow and all the days that follow you think of her. I hope one day you understand how much pain our family has endured, but most importantly I hope you understand that the way you do or DON’T do your job has consequences. Not only did we loose her, but for the rest of our lives we are asking all these questions because of the s**t job you’ve all done. I don’t understand how you can ignore my family. How do you all sleep at night? Or are you sleeping?

My plea to everyone who is in the area of law or in a position to hold those accountable, if you don’t want to do your job then find another one, because families like mine deal with consequences. A few minutes of your time may answer some of these questions, but you choose to ignore us.

I’m still here and I won’t be silent…ever.

Candidate for sheriff pleads no contest
Robert W. "Bob" Kelly, candidate for Highland County sheriff in November's election, pled no contest to two counts of assault and battery in an Oklahoma incident this year.

I love reading old newspaper articles. A highlight for me in this article was:
"I think this needs to be heard," she said. 'They planned it. They hurt me and my sister so bad we had to go to the hospital. Bob stepped up and kicked her. They knocked me on my knees; I have scars there now. I have doctors' reports and photos I could show you." She said the incident was also witnessed by her mother, aunt, and niece, who were in the Martins' home at the time, and a grandchild who was in the car with them. 'They could have come with the cops," she noted. "Instead they came and knocked us in the dirt ... they didn't want the police out here ... They wanted to hurt us.

Definitely not a good choice to make as a law enforcement officer. Could you image what would happen to a citizen of the community if this happened in Highland County now? Sheriff Bob, I feel for sure would be arresting the person who did something similar, but it's okay in certain circumstances, I guess, if you are a law enforcement officer? Kinda like taking the law into your own hands? hmmm.

Sheriff Bob Kelly it isn't always about looks....it is the substance that matters most. What are you made of? Lies and deceit? Weren't you just discussing all the needs of the sheriff's office, yet you choose to spend money on new vehicles, uniforms, etc. All the things that make your dept. "look" better......when is the do better going to happen? You can't fix mistakes if you can't acknowledge them. I still have all those questions for you. I'm still here. I'm not going anywhere until I get the answers Amber, HER CHILDREN, and the rest of us deserve. Why not a training program in honor of Amber? Something to hopefully help make sure this won't ever happen again. Why not use her 911 call to train your dispatchers? I imagine that would be too difficult for you to hear huh?

Sheriff Bob's training records from a FOIA request in 2022. Yes, this report is two years old. Imagine taking the same classes over and over again for years. Yes, some of them are required to take year after year because the laws are ever changing. I'm curious if you are a police officer in Virginia are these courses picked for you OR are there some classes you have the option to choose? Maybe a refresher on how to properly handle a crime scene, preserve evidence, or I don't know.... how to be honest to a grieving family would be a good course. Maybe the horizons need broadened? A critical thinking course.... you know a person calls 911 from a landline inside the home and her car is there.... that's a pretty good indicator she is in the house, right? Or maybe that's too much critical thinking?

By the way Bob, I'm still waiting on that response. Also, I need to know who the Custodian of Records is now for the dept. I have some more FOIA requests to put in. Highland County Sheriff’s Office .

Sheriff Bob Kelly what exactly did you send my sister a thank you for?

“Not much they can do when it comes to this county being one of its own and ran by ppl that are voted in and I can't just go tell the world what I did bc I could be killed over that s**t” - Amber

And now Amber is dead. What happened to my sister? Why must I continue to fight this battle for answers when this documentation is here? Why is NO ONE answering my calls/emails? I am being fully transparent, but I guess I’m the only one.

So many people are fighting for justice/answers for their loved ones. If you are one of those people and have a page/group post your link in the comments. We all need to support and lift one another up. Sometimes it’s the people we meet that keep us hopeful and give us the strength to fight another day. I know I couldn’t do this alone and I am forever thankful for every single person who has given my family support. ❤️

Sheriff Bob Kelly,

While you are with your family today, I hope you remember mine. I hope you remember we are still here waiting for answers to our questions and wondering why you choose not to answer them. We understand that Investigator Allen Brown with VSP took over the investigation, however Amber’s call went into what is now your sheriff’s dept and YOU were first on scene. I imagine through your training you know the importance of that.

You may choose to remain silent if you wish, but until the day I die I will forever seek the answers to the questions I have. I have emailed you and copied the new commonwealth attorney many times without response. Continue your silence it speaks for itself.

Holidays for us will never be the same. We gather together with broken hearts and long for the day when we will have closure. It’s unbelievable and disgusting that people choose to ignore my family. People elected into an office that serves the people. What are you hiding? What is the reason for your silence? You may not ever answer me, but you sure won’t be able to forget 🙂.

Amber had certain pages marked in her Bible. See the dot beside the verse? Interesting what she has marked throughout. I’m still amazed her Bible is in such great shape. Something I definitely cherish.
