Decided to slow down a bit and work with some of my herbs so I’ve been out in the greenhouse picking mullein flowers and I swear this plant never stops amazing me. ❤️

These little yellow flowers are what I use to make my ear oil, and this is one of those remedies I always like to have on hand around here. (I share how to make it in my herbal book coming out this week😁)

What’s funny is most people walk right past mullein and have no idea how useful it is. Meanwhile, I’m over here carefully picking flowers one by one like they’re gold. 🤣

Mullein is one of the herbs we use all the time. I make a mullein tincture that we combine with elderberry and echinacea during cold season, and honestly, I can never seem to keep enough of it made. It’s one of our best sellers for a reason.

But today it’s all about these beautiful yellow flowers. There’s just something satisfying about harvesting herbs straight from your own greenhouse and turning them into something useful for your family.

God sure knew what He was doing when He created plants. 🌿💛

Guess I better get busy, I’ve got a bowl full of flowers waiting to become ear oil. 🥰🌼

Awwww ❤️

Calf #7 decided she wasn’t making her grand entrance until Dad got home. 🥰

and I have to say… she was worth the wait. 😍

This gorgeous Highland/HighPark heifer has us completely won over already. Just look at that fluffy white coat, her markings, those dark ears, and that sweet little face. 🤯❤️

Now the real question is…

Am I keeping her?

I’m thinking the answer is probably yes. 🤦‍♀️😂

For now, we’re just soaking up all the baby lovins and enjoying her. What do you think… keeper material? 🥰🐮❤️

Anybody else get completely invested in total strangers doing crazy things? 😂

Because I started following a girl, You Row Kelsey, who is rowing from California to Hawaii.

Not sailing.

ROWING. 😳

By herself.

Out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

And now I'm sitting here tonight at 11pm way more unsettled about this than I probably should be. 😂

Maybe it's because movies like Jaws and The Perfect Storm permanently damaged me. Maybe it's because I've seen enough weather and flooding around here lately to know Mother Nature doesn't play around.

But all I can think about is her out there in that tiny boat when it gets dark.

Like... REALLY dark.

No porch light. No barn light. No neighbor's light. No coffee shop down the road.

Just ocean. 😳

Meanwhile, this woman is out there rowing across the Pacific, and I'm over here getting aggravated because I had to wrestle a stubborn w**d eater, fix a fence, or carry fifty-pound bags of feed around the farm. 😂

It does make me stop and think though...

Sometimes we forget how much we're actually capable of.

Maybe I'm never going to row from California to Hawaii... and honestly, that sounds like a hard pass from me. 🤪

But I can handle the things in front of me.

The hard days. The setbacks. The unexpected messes. The things that need fixed.

And if all else fails, I'll just stay right here on solid ground with my cows, my farm, and my garden where God intended me to be. ❤️😂

Oh my goodness… ❤️

I was just out walking the fields checking on the cows and a few expectant mommas when I stumbled across this sweet little surprise. There’s nothing quite like finding a brand-new baby tucked away in the pasture. ❤️

Calf #6 has officially arrived, and SHE’S A HEIFER!! 🎉🥰

And can we talk about that fuzzy face?! 😍

One of the things I love most about raising Highlands is watching each new calf arrive with their own little personality. This little girl is already stealing hearts around here.

Farm life isn’t always easy… there’s mud, fences, floods, chores, and plenty of long days. But moments like this make every bit of it worth it. ❤️

Welcome to the farm, sweet girl. We are pretty excited you’re here. 🥰

Now the important question…

What should we name her?

(She is AHCA registered and will be looking for a new field come weaning🤔❤️🐮 To see all the calves we have available you can look on our farm site under “Our Fold”)
