Either you LOVE it or you DON'T!! Did you know that today is International Candy Corn Day? Yep, that's right there is a day devoted for this candy. Here are some interesting FACT about this fall candy:
Q. How many calories are in candy corn?
A. A handful of candy corn (about 19 pieces) contains 140 calories.

Q. What flavor are the pumpkins in the candy corn Autumn Mix?
A. Mixed in with traditional candy corn, the pumpkins in the Autumn Mix are mellow crème or marshmallow flavor, the same as the candy corns.

Q. Does candy corn come in different flavors?

Appalachian Radio Group partners with McCoy Construction & Forestry, Exel Enterprises and Renewed Church to collect items for our neighbors in need.

You can drop off donations each day from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm at McCoy Construction & Forestry – the John Deere Dealership at the Tri-Cities Crossing in Kingsport.

Our goal is to fill up as many Exel 53' trailers as possible!

Items most in need include baby formula, diapers and wipes as well as new children’s clothing.

We will also collect the following items:
- Bottled Water
- Distilled Water (for CPAP machines and oxygen concentrators)
- Coolers for medications that have to stay temperature regulated
- Non-perishable food and canned items (with pop top lids)
- Batteries
- Flashlights
- New towels, sheets, underwear and socks.
- Personal hygiene products (deodorant, shampoo, soap, etc.)
- Pet food

We are coordinating directly with emergency management officials working in the region. They will direct us where to deliver the donated items depending on which areas have the greatest need. It's looking like the first truck load will be delivered in Roan Mountain.

Due to the recent snow storm last week our transmitter on Holston Mountain has been severely damaged so the WHCB Signal is temporarily out. We are working as fast as we can to resolve this issue.
