I have loved rugby for a long time. Both when I played and now that I work or attend games I am filled with excitement about this sport. If you haven’t ever been to a game you should go.

After attending the Utah Warrior’s Rugby game last Saturday with my family I was looking up some stats and came across this photo with me in the background. I had been on the handheld camera at the game a couple weeks before. I always love comedy across these kinds of photos.

I hope these photos help you feel something like they do for me.

I think the Oregon coast is amazing. The forests, the rocks, the mist. They all lend into such a beautiful environment and I think black and white does amazing justice to its majesty.

Coming in from the east side is the best way to see Zion if you ask me. The tunnel reveals the valley to newcomers in the most spectacular way.

Over the summer last year we took a road trip that included going to Zion National Park. I try not to take too many photos while on those trip cause otherwise I take over the vacation. Here is one of the few shots I quickly captured from the roadside. There was a sweet storm rolling in and I couldn’t resist.

It was a super fun trip and we got to see some awesome wildlife as well. Make sure to watch out for that post.

After this buck started trotting past at about 60 yard I figured I had nothing to lose.

I started making low grunt/bleat noises. He started to take interest and knew something was there but couldn’t see where I was.

He walked timidly closer. The clicking of my shutter would scare him off a bit but I was able to entice him enough to keep coming closer.

Finally he came in to 10 yards and I got to just enjoy capturing such a cool moment. I’m not sure how long i was with him but it felt like ages. When I thought I was done I stood up to walk away.

To my surprise he hardly spooked at all. He then allowed me to walk along with him for about 5 minutes. We then parted ways and I was so stoked I couldn’t wait to go tell my kids and wife.

With how wide of a buck this guy is I feel like I need to give him a name. Comment if you have any ideas.

After cutting the distance I waited and started getting images like these. He was starting to walk past me at about 60 yards. You can see from the way the hair on his butt is sticking up he was ready to take off. I had to do something.

For the rest of the story look for my next post.

Spending time with this pronghorn buck was one of my highlights of last year.

I was 4wheeling with my youngest son and didn’t have my camera with me when we scared him and a small deer fawn up. I took my son back to where we were staying, got my camo and camera and went back to look for him.

Normally pronghorn are super skittish so I took my time on this. Starting over 400 yards away on foot I slowly moved in. After getting past the fawn I was able to get to probably 80 yards before I was able to start capturing anything worthwhile. Time slipped by and I’m not sure how long the experience lasted but it was amazing.

For more details and photos stay posted.
