On June 12, the Consulate General of Japan in Miami hosted a dynamic reception alongside the Asian-American Advisory Board (AAAB) of Miami-Dade County, marking the conclusion of Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month in May.
Acting Consul General Fumiyo Tsuda delivered strong opening remarks, emphasizing AAAB’s crucial role in forging connections between the Asian-American community and local government while actively contributing to the county’s growth through robust cultural and economic partnerships. She firmly welcomed the expanding collaboration between AAAB and the Japan Business Association of Miami (JBAM).
Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava underscored the significant impact of the Asian-American community within the county and expressed her commitment to fortifying the relationship with Japan.
AAAB Chairwoman Tai Vaz outlined the recent strides made in enhancing the status of Asian residents in Florida, highlighting the necessity of continued cooperation among diverse communities. Mr. Luke Keisuke Nakano, President of JBAM and newly appointed AAAB board member, shared his firm intention to deepen JBAM’s collaboration with county institutions.
Attendees engaged with cultural and business booths presented by JBAM members and enjoyed a captivating sushi demonstration by the official chef, along with sake tasting throughout the reception.
This reception has undeniably fostered dialogue and played a vital role in strengthening the ties among the Asian-American community in Miami-Dade County.
