π€πŸπ­πžπ« 𝟐𝟎+ 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐑𝐒𝐧𝐠, 𝐈 𝐟𝐒𝐧𝐚π₯π₯𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐑𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐭 𝐟𝐞π₯𝐭 π₯𝐒𝐀𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐀𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐒𝐫𝐬𝐭 π›π«πžπšπ­π‘.

It was only the second week of school with a roomful of 5 year olds- imagine that!

I was turning left and right, looking high and low, making sure the kids were engaged, safe, and not climbing on the walls.

Teaching always felt like running a marathon in 30 seconds while on Red Bull on an empty stomach and today didn’t feel any different.

My heart was beating fast. My breath was short and my words all slurred together as I was talking to Anthony about the 1000 pieces of scraps he cut onto the floor. At the same time, I saw the two girls knock over Bobby’s blocks. There was sure to be someone pouting soon.

π“π‘πšπ­β€™π¬ 𝐰𝐑𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝.

I came up for air.

My brain waved a red flag to get my attention!!

My entire awareness shifted and I noticed that I intentionally took a breath.

Everything before that felt like survival. My body and brain calmed. I felt my chest do a slow deep breath.

How did I not ever notice my body was in fight AND flight mode all these years?

This is what causes the β€œcrash” and β€œburnout” once the students leave. I end up sitting for a good 20 minutes to regulate my body.

It feels like my body buzzes for hours.

It felt like I was β€œkeeping up” with the kids.

It felt like I was only β€œmeeting the students at their energy.”

but the truth was, my body and brain were operating at the level of survival- as though a tiger were chasing me all day everyday for over 20+ years (minus holidays and breaks).

How is this ok? Does this sound like you too?

I desire to feel safe in my body…

calm in my thoughts…

and functioning from a place of creativity and joy like when I work in my digitial business.

That’s where I feel the most joy and fun where I can ease into my feminine energy to be & feel most like me

The tough days are the best days to build resilience...
It used to be that I would call a friend to complain or cry...

Or wish to wave that magic wand so my problems could turn into a frog and swim away...

These days, learning to sit with my emotions is brilliance...

Learning to build up the courage to take the next steps is exceptional

Learning to be my own best friend is beautiful...
