There are 61 living Medal of Honor recipients, according to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.
When retired Army Lt. Gen. Leroy Sisco found out these heroes are living on a meager $1,400 per month stipend, he was not a happy camper.
He promptly went to work, went to D.C., and helped make things happen.
A bill to improve that pay, to nearly $5,800 per month, passed 424-0 in the U.S. House of Representatives in February and 100-0 last month in the Senate. President Donald Trump signed it into law Dec. 1.
