The Great Idaho Show

The Great Idaho Show Host Dylan Stocker, a 3.5-generation Idahoan, brings raw, real, and unfiltered conversations with the people who make Idaho great.

From pioneers to adventurers, we dive into the culture, history, and future of the Gem State in a bold, Rogan-esq format.

You’ve heard me say it on every show, I love radio, and I love Idaho.

With my recent announcement to run for Boise County Commissioner, radio has to be set aside for a time to ensure compliance with FCC rules. That’s the right call, and I respect it.

I’m sincerely grateful to Kevin Miller and the team at KIDO Talk Radio for the opportunity, the professionalism, and the respect shown to me.

When faced with a choice, I chose Idaho. I chose Boise County.

The conversations don’t stop. We move forward as a podcast.

Made some drawer pulls out of old railroad spikes.
Steel spikes, copper spacers — - - still in semi-final form.
Sometimes you’ve just got to make your own drawer pull.
This isn’t Martha’s Vineyard. This is Idaho.
Love it or not, Union Pacific Railroad helped shape what Idaho became — towns, timber, mining, ranching, all of it.
Reuse. Build. Make things work.

Just got out of the studio with a true local radio legend—Uncle Jimmy.

Two lifelong lovers of radio, with nowhere near enough time. I used to listen to his live show every weekend, never imagining that one day he’d be sitting across from me on my show.

Today, that happened—right here on KIDO Talk Radio

Grateful for the craft, the conversations, and the full-circle moments radio gives us.

As the year comes to a close, today’s episode on KIDO Talk Radio isn’t a recap. It’s a pause to reflect — on listening, on work, and on community, and on what I’ve learned sitting across the table from GREAT Idahoans over the past year.

Kevin Miller joined me for this end-of-year conversation, and it felt fitting. Radio has always mattered to both of us — not as noise, but as connection. A place where real conversations still happen and where community is built one voice at a time.

This isn’t a highlight reel.
It’s a moment of gratitude and a steady step forward.

Grateful for the work. Grateful for radio. Grateful for Idaho.

Friends — today’s episode of The Great Idaho Show airs, and it’s a pure Idaho one.

I sat down with Nate Shake, the Director of Mountain Operations at Bogus Basin, to talk about the mountain, the people, and the incredible amount of work (and science) that goes into creating that “perfect Idaho day” in the snow.

Nate has spent 36 seasons on Bogus, and his story is amazing — born into the mountain lifestyle, raised on chairlifts, and now helping lead one of the most important year-round recreation hubs in the Treasure Valley.

In this episode we get into:

What’s changed at Bogus over the decades (and what hasn’t)

How modern lifts improved access and beginner experience

The wild world of snowmaking — and how Bogus is even storing snow through the summer

Why night skiing for $19 matters for families

New upgrades at the Pioneer Lodge and what’s being built next

All the things you can do up there, winter and summer — skiing, tubing, Nordic trails, mountain biking, hiking, the coaster, and more

Just got out of the studio at 580 AM KIDO Talk Radio

I walked in today planning to do a solo, year-end Idaho reflection for The Great Idaho Show. Instead, Kevin Miller stepped in and said, “Want some company?”

So we sat down and did a year-end review of the show, the people we’ve talked to, the Idaho stories that mattered, and why radio is still one of the most real ways to connect with people.

Grateful for Kevin. Grateful for KIDO. Grateful for you all.

I’m recording today’s episode of The Great Idaho Show in a couple of hours and taking a different approach.

Instead of a guest, I’m doing a year-end Idaho reflection episode.

If there’s a guest we’ve had this year that stuck with you, or a topic or question you wish you could have asked, I’d love to hear it. Feel free to drop a comment here or send me a message. I’ll work your thoughts into the show.

Grateful for the conversations. Grateful for Idaho.

My radio home is KIDO Talk Radio, and it is an honor to be associated with 580 KIDO and the Kevin Miller Show.

Today’s show delivered tremendously powerful information. Kevin doesn’t need promotion, his show speaks for itself because it reflects what is truly happening, not just nationally, but especially here in Idaho.

If you ever miss the live broadcast due to work or life, I encourage you to look it up on Spotify. It’s worth the listen.

Airing today on KIDO Talk Radio at 11 AM
The Great Idaho Show featuring Shannon McGuire, executive producer of The Potato Movie and founder of Supreme Moms

Shannon moved to Idaho nearly 20 years ago and built something I respect deeply. The Potato Movie is a fast paced, unscripted documentary capturing real Idaho life across the state, real people, real places, real culture.

There is also a purpose behind it. The Potato Movie helps support Supreme Moms, focused on strengthening moms, families, and community well being in Idaho. Healthy families build healthy communities. That is not complicated, and it is worth defending.

Listen anytime after here:
