The Great Idaho Show

The Great Idaho Show Host Dylan Stocker, a 3.5-generation Idahoan, brings raw, real, and unfiltered conversations with the people who make Idaho great.

From pioneers to adventurers, we dive into the culture, history, and future of the Gem State in a bold, Rogan-esq format.

Idaho hunting is bigger than deer and elk. Roger Phillips from Idaho Fish and Game explains why pine squirrels are now a regulated game animal with a legal season that runs alongside forest grouse. It is a simple way to get new hunters—especially kids—into the woods the right way.

What does Idaho look like through a youth’s eyes? 🌲

Ginger Stocker—5th-generation Idahoan and U of I forestry student, shares a grounded “Idaho Youth Perspective”: COVID-era school, rugby grit, a summer with Idaho Parks & Rec (yes, yurts and trail work!), scholarships, the U of I Experimental Forest, and her first season on a DNRC engine crew.

If you’ve got a student wondering where to begin—seasonal work and public lands might be the best classroom in the world.

Idaho through the eyes of our youth.

Ginger Stocker, a 5th-generation Idahoan, forestry student, and wildland firefighter, joins me to talk about what makes this state so special:

👉 “I love everything about Idaho. I really love the landscape… we have one of the largest public lands available out to the community. I love the opportunity to just be able to go outside and enjoy it, keeping it open for the public, and keeping the land safe.”

I took this photo this morning on the ranch, reflecting on my wife’s amazing eye for good use. She must be from Idaho… wait, she is. Born and raised here — only she would see 750-lb bomb fins and say, ‘Perfect riser covers.

Clouds or sun, the Palouse always humbles me. These rolling hills hold more wheat than you can imagine — over 100 million bushels every year, making Idaho one of America’s top 10 producers. 🌾

Last night in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at The Cedars Floating Restaurant, with the lake reflecting lights and the sky whispering calm, my amazing wife and I shared one of those evenings you wish you could hold forever.

From the moment we walked up the dock, the silhouette on the water took our breath away. ⛵️ The filet & lobster were cooked just right, the salad bar was a treat, and pairing our meal with a good house wine sealed the moment.

Even the flag at half-mast spoke volumes — in that quiet glow of candles and lake lights, patriotism felt less like politics and more like respect.

Grateful for nights like this — for love, for beauty, for home. 🇺🇸

What makes a good deputy? Sheriff Larry Kendrick of Owyhee County says it starts in the jail.

If you can learn to treat people with dignity and respect in a controlled environment, you’ll carry that same respect onto the street.

That’s a principle worth remembering: Respect first. Compliance follows.

Proud to share this moment from our Sheriff Series on The Great Idaho Show.

As the seasons change, so do our staffing needs—and we’re looking for passionate, guest-focused people to join the SouthFork Lodge team.

This is a great opportunity for anyone doing online schooling or looking for a unique work experience in the Boise National Forest. We also offer full-time housing on the property, making it easy to live, work, and play in the mountains.
