as M E T R I C kicks off the next chunk of their 2026 tour dates tomorrow in chicago, all i continue to think about is how the hell have i still not seen one of my favorite bands live before? known for creating a mix of songs that get stuck in your head and others that kick your ass, they really give something for everyone.

the lead single off the band's fifth album "synthetica" [2012] was, of course, "youth without youth" ...and i don't have to preach to the choir on how important songs about frayed society are to all of us.
•
in a 2012 interview with Diffuser, emily haines explains the track as "...the story of this sort of young kid whose innocence is completely gone before he had the chance to be a kid." i'll just let that sink in for you personally and you can report back with how that makes you feel.

back in 2024, Checker from my hometown of detroit, released their EP "what's in the attic?" which would go on to be played constantly in my car for weeks. i can't get enough of the duo tbh. so when they dropped their track "aerosol" at the end of last year needless to say i was once again obsessed. when putting my show together for this week, i realized that i haven't played it yet on Po1. smh
