Do you know which MLB player inspired a line of soda? Idaho’s own Harmon Killebrew! In 1996, his son Ken Killebrew created Killebrew Root Beer using an old family recipe. Made with real Minnesota honey and available in three flavors, Root Beer, Honey Cream, and Honey Lemon, the drink is still in production today.

The idea goes back to 1984, when Harmon received a commemorative soda can for his Baseball Hall of Fame induction. As the story goes, he joked, “We ought to put a brew in this and sell it!”

Discover more about Idaho’s own Harmon Killebrew in Idaho Experience’s new documentary, “Idaho's Big-Hearted Slugger,” premiering Nov. 6 on Idaho Public Television.
