Nobody prays harder than a parent who has grown children, because I can no longer fix every hurt or carry every load for them.
I watch my daughter walk through the hard days of young motherhood. She wakes through the night with a crying baby. Her body aches from nursing. She tries to care for her home, love her family, and keep up with work when she can barely keep her eyes open.
I want to step in and make it all easier. Yet I cannot be beside her every hour. I cannot take every night shift, calm every fear, or solve each new trial. What I can do is bring her name before God.
Prayer is not the last thing I do when my hands are tied. It is one of the strongest ways I can love her. Jesus said, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (Matthew 6:8, NIV). God sees the tears she hides. He knows when she feels worn down, alone, or unsure.
So I pray that the Lord will hold her steady. I ask Him to give her strength for today, not for some far-off day. “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak” (Isaiah 40:29, NIV).
I also pray that she will feel God close to her in the dark hours. Psalm 121:3 says, “He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber” (NIV). While she rocks her baby at two in the morning, God is awake. While I sleep miles away, He keeps watch.
My daughter is grown, but she will never outgrow my prayers. I trust that every prayer offered in love helps shape my own heart as well. It teaches me to release her into God’s care instead of trying to control what only He can hold.
Prayer: Lord, please watch over my daughter as she raises her child. Give her rest when she is worn out, courage when she doubts herself, and peace when the days feel too heavy. Help me love her without trying to run her life. When I cannot be there, remind me that You are. Keep her and her little family close to Your heart. Amen.
