However, those other choices, if healthy, would have required daily - honesty, humility, submission, repentance, in a few words– ...

I believe my dad fulfilled his mission, but the battle is far from over. He didn’t just pass the torch off to Matt and me, but to every single person he poured into over the years. I firmly believe that our community has been rattled at his sudden passing, and it has served as a wake-up call. The ...

I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on the tragic events of September 27, 2024, this week. (It was fitting that it rained all week). We saw God move in powerful ways . People cried out to God in their desperation & people were saved. Countless needs were met. Our church swung open the doors

My fondest memories at the college are of the times when the students would show up on our doorstep because they wanted to talk, or just hang out. My wife and I always had our door open to anyone who wanted to converse, eat a meal, or simply throw football. I recall a time not so long ago that two y

Evangelism is so different from pastoring a church. Years ago, those who were known to have the ministry of an evangelist would go preach revivals at churches every weekend. In that time period, you didn’t have to go to another nation to be a missionary. You could preach 3540 times a year and all ...

‘Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.’ Grandparents at High Country Caregivers often tell their grandchildren this when they plan an activity with the agency. On Sept. 26, the creeks, rivers, and streams did indeed rise; the wind gusts reached up to 90 mph for 12 hours. Homes floated away, e...

The Journey

Welcome to The Journey, NC. This page is an extension of our print magazine and our website.

The Journey Magazine has been in circulation in the High Country for more than 20 years. You can now access these wonderful stories plus new ones, online. If you read something you like, please share it with your friends and family so they can be encouraged as well!

Our purpose is to share the spiritual journeys of people in our community. No matter where you are in your life's journey, visit our website to find comfort, help, and encouragement.

I named the Magazine "The Journey" because it's about people's spiritual journeys. What sets true Christianity apart from all other forms of religion is the personal relationship we have with the God who created us, through Jesus Christ. The stories we share on the blog and in The Journey magazine show how God works in the lives of everyday people, here in the High Country and beyond.
