**BREAKING NEWS**

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 7, 2020

Boonville, MO. At its Board of Directors Meeting Tuesday evening, May 5, 2020, the Chamber Board voted unanimously to cancel Heritage Days for 2020. Almost every scenario imaginable was presented and discussed but, in the end, cancellation seemed the best option. There are just too many unknowns; sponsor, vendor, and attendee safety are and would be a major concern.

Missouri will celebrate its Bicentennial in 2021. The Chamber and Heritage Days Committee will begin planning early in the Fall of this year for the 2021 event. Volunteers are always welcome. If you would like to join the Committee, please call the Chamber or respond to this press release. The Committee meets monthly with extra meetings in June as the date approaches and if the need exists.

Thank you for your interest in the annual Heritage Days Festival. Let’s go big in 2021.

In the meantime, please be safe.

04/28/2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 28, 2020
Contact: Kate Fjell, 660-882-2332

The City of Boonville announces that Lions Park Aquatic Center will not be open for the 2020 season. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution for public health, budgetary considerations, and staffing challenges.

Like many Missouri communities, we are looking at summer programs and activities and are trying to make sure they are safe and healthy for the community. “Some of these activities,” Mayor Beach said, “like resumption of summer sport leagues can be done with relative ease; while others, like the swimming pool require considerable work and planning.” Unfortunately, the reduction of City staff in April during the Governor’s stay at home order has made it difficult to get the pool ready for operation. In addition, the closure of other communities’ swimming pools in the area means that staff is not certified yet for the 2020 season. These issues have made opening by Memorial Day challenging. Additionally, maintaining or enforcing social distancing at the pool would be nearly impossible.

City Administrator, Kate Fjell stated that the “financial hit of COVID 19 makes it challenging to operate the pool this year, particularly with a potentially shortened season.”

Any individuals who have purchased pool passes or who may have purchased them at charity auctions this year may utilize them for the 2021 season. Please contact Parks Director, Paul Linhart, 660-882-7447 for details.

There are many words that have no rhyme in the English language. "Orange" is only the most famous. Other words that have no rhyme include: silver, purple, month, ninth, pint, wolf, opus, dangerous, marathon and discombobulate.
Hi Matt and Robin! I left my door open last night and someone hit my dog. She is a little warrior, all 20 lbs of her, and I wanted to let you guys know she is gonna be ok! Just in case whoever hit her (if they even knew) wouldn’t feel so bad about themselves! I am amazed at the small amount of injuries she sustained and I am so blessed that she was spared to be with us for a few more years! She is eating and drinking and we couldn’t be happier. So if you happened to be the one that hit her please feel no guilt and know it was all her mommy’s fault and usually I am far more responsible then that and I should have made sure my doors were all the way closed before going to bed!! The patient is loving life. I think this is the first time she has canned dog food and she loved it ❤️❤️❤️
I’m curious, is Boonville McDonalds the only fast food restaurant in town that has its lobby opened for take out orders?
Found a pug near Pendleton, anyone know of a possible owner?
So Saline County can do this and Cooper County cannot! Here is what Cooper County Commission issued. https://www.coopercountymo.gov/uploads/6/3/6/9/63696319/declaration1.pdf Noticed the difference: One is to get money; the other is to save lives. https://www.kmmo.com/2020/04/02/saline-county-health-department-orders-mitigation-order/?fbclid=IwAR2oDz5mjop3UBYxZwqA1fWjceDQMdLfLbETuh-I_IVQlatRZJ5iHGXQNME
Do you know anything about this
Tried to call this evening wanted to tell u thanks for the Walmart gift card it makes our heart happy to know theres so many generous people in the community.

Thank you for having the Cooper County Health Department nurse. We so appreciate this service by you and Melanie. I am very concerned about the restaurant that is going to have a band sometime soon. Not a good idea. I talked with a friend who lives and works in New Orleans where I lived for about ten years and know it well. She works part time at a restaurant that is on the edge of the Quarter. She says exactly what you said. Mardi Gras was late in Feb. and St. Patricks day a few weeks later. Even though parades were cancelled people still did it. People are not listening to the stay at home. Her daughter is a nurse and knows first hand the situation. God Bless you, KWRT! Thankyou
Does anybody know when testing will be available to the general public in our area?
