Parents are playing an increasingly active role in the college search, and their priorities are becoming clearer.
A recent survey found that cost remains parents’ top concern, followed by overall fit, financial aid and student mental well-being. At the same time, concern about post-graduation job prospects has risen significantly, underscoring the growing importance of clearly communicating both affordability and outcomes.
For colleges and universities, the opportunity is not simply to communicate more, but to communicate more effectively. While 71% of parents want institutions to engage with them directly, 69% said the information they received was not highly useful.
Institutions that provide timely, relevant and audience-specific information about cost, financial aid, student support and career outcomes will be better positioned to build trust with families—and help students make confident enrollment decisions.
At BG, we help higher education institutions turn insights like these into integrated marketing strategies that speak to the priorities of both students and their families.
