LIGHT AND DARKNESS*
Episode 1
Coming back from the cybercafe rejoicing after successful attempt on getting a hostel accommodation. My name is Christine, I'm 17 years old, I am a newly admitted student studying or should I say going to study Nursing. Chai! I'm so excited, the struggles of getting hostels through the school's online portal was war! I used 3 phones still the pages weren't loading, I didn't want to miss this because I can't afford houses off campus, I ran to the nearest cybercafe and was told a lot of students are on the sever so it's lagging. I kept praying silently, begging God to grant this for me. The man tapped me after a while saying he has successfully done it, I was overjoyed, now I can book my bus ticket to school.
Getting home I waited for my mother to come back from the market, when she arrived I told her the news, she was happy and thanked God. Now that you have gotten this, you can proceed to making arrangements for your departure she said. My mother is the only parent I have left, I lost my dad when I was 8 years old, it's been rough for us but God has continued to make a way for us.
Three days later....
My mum sat me down a night to my departure to school, she began to advice me as all mothers will do to their children. My daughter she said with me bowing my head down, do not forget how you got to this point of your life, or forget who you are and the family you're coming from. A lot of distractions await you. Don't be fooled by the opposite gender who call you beautiful when some have ulterior motives. I've always told you to be prayerful, join a fellowship in your school and make time to study the Word of God. This school will be welcoming new students carrying different spirits but let yours be the Holy Spirit, don't join single to mingle group so as not to bring shame to our family. Continue to keep your virginity and remain pure for Christ and your future husband. I love you my child. Go and prosper. God'll keep you for me.
After all she said, I went up to my room, I prayed to God for strength to do all my mum said. Lying on the bed with eyes fixed on the ceiling, I wondered about the new phase of my life, playing different scenarios, imagining what my room in school will look like and all till I dozed off.

My alarm rang at 4:30 AM, it was on Friday, I jumped from the bed and started off, I must be at the park before 6 AM, I began to get started on moving my stuff downstairs. I checked and double checked everything from my school documents to provisions and clothing. My sister Angel was already looking moody as it dawned on her of my departure. She's 3 years younger than me. I hugged her tightly before my mum entered. We prayed for about 10 minutes then they left me to have my bath and prepare for the day ahead. I came down after I had finished and sat at the dinning table. After breakfast, my mum called me and gave me a gift in a box, she said it's a goodbye present and should only be opened on my arrival. I hugged her tightly and my sister also. We entered the car and drove to the park.
..30 Minutes later.
I'm sitted in this bus, thinking about my long journey to school and also my nostalgia increasing with every thought about leaving. Soon the driver started the bus, I waved my family goodbye from inside as I sat at the window seat, I could see tears in Angel's eyes and I also shed some and like that I am a certified 100level student of Nursing.
