Rachel Neil (COM'25) is a film and TV major with a minor in advertising. She's the general manager of butv10, the set director of Bay State, producer of Pop Showdown!, and edits both shows. She's also an art director in Boston University AdClub, a member of the Redlist (BU's Short Film Club), and more.
"My time at BUTV10 has helped me receive hands-on experience in all aspects of production. I've written scripts, manned cameras, handled sound, ran capture, directed episodes, managed post-production, and helped with social media. I've worked with many talented people and connected with experienced BU staff. At BUTV10, I'm able to express myself creatively, foster connections, gain practical skills, and feel like I'm making an impact in the BU community. Studio East is my home away from home, and I'm grateful for BUTV10 for providing a space that I feel welcome and important in."

: Alex Dowd (COM'23), from Austin, Texas, is studying journalism and will be covering Maura Healey’s campaign party tonight with butv10.
"My happy place on campus is Studio West: the television news studio on the top floor of COM," Dowd said. She's an anchor for BUTV10's "Good Morning BU," and a producer on both "On that Point" and this year's election special. After graduation, she plans to work as a broadcast reporter, but wants to gain as many multimedia skills as possible while she's here.
"I love reporting because it means my job is to talk to people and tell their stories. No day is the same as the last. The news never stops, but sometimes I have to. In my free time, I do hot yoga, walk my cat, or fall down a random research rabbit hole. I'm a huge fan of collecting old magazines, reading them, then tearing them apart to make collages. I also consider myself a rookie Supreme Court watcher and constant C-Span viewer."

This is a big day across the country, but especially for some COM students. Dozens of students from Boston University News Service (BUNS), WTBU, butv10, and our Statehouse Program (the largest news organization working in the Mass. Statehouse) will be producing coverage across all platforms.
“We started prepping for the election at the beginning of the semester,” grad student Emma Picht (COM’23), BUNS co–managing editor, said.
WTBU has already produced close to a dozen stories related to elections, and BUTV10 will be airing their election coverage on Thursday night.
