The late Bill Monbouquette of the Red Sox grew up as a Boston Braves fan and was a loyal BBHA member and reunion attendee. As a youth, he once pitched at Braves Field.

The retirement of a great friend of the BBHA and one who has strived to preserve the memory of Boston’s Braves in print and at the museum (the Wigwam’s last home plate resides there!):

Thursday, April 30, marks the final day of work for Sports Museum curator Richard Johnson, who has been on the job since March 17, 1982. Author of 25 books, a cross-country competitor at Lawrence Academy and Bates, Johnson is the smartest and most knowledgeable Boston sports historian of all time and will be greatly missed. “The museum has been his life’s work,” says executive director Rusty Sullivan. A toast to you, Richard.

It’s included here because Mat is a Boston Braves fan who attended reunions and once sketched for us in his inimitable style a great tribute to Spahn & Sain and pray for rain.
