EXTRA SPECIAL BBHA NEWS!!!!

Tours are back! We’re about to restart offering Braves Field tours. We have a very knowledgeable individual ready to takeover from the late and legendary Ralph Evans.

Read below for more information!

June 16, 2025: The Boston Braves Historical Association is excited to announce the revival of Braves Field Tours, taking baseball fans back in time to visit the Braves’ home a century ago.

110 years since it opened as the largest ballpark in the world, Braves Field can still be recognized at Nickerson Field on the campus of Boston University. BU and the BBHA have endeavored to preserve the legacy of the former ballpark over the decades since
the University purchased the site in 1953, and many of its features still stand today.

No one knew Braves Field as well as Ralph Evans, who hosted tours and served as the Association’s ballpark expert until his passing in September 2023. Ralph shared his passion and knowledge with generations of historians and enthusiasts over the years, and the lasting memory of the ballpark would not be the same without his efforts.

Brady Gardner met Evans in 2020 and became a member of the BBHA soon after. A lifelong Massachusetts resident and baseball fan, Brady attended BU and spent countless hours at the field working for BU Athletics before beginning his career with with the Red Sox in 2022, planning and hosting game-day experiences at Fenway Park and beyond - coincidentally including a recent Sox series against the Braves in Atlanta!

Inspired by Evans, Brady has created his own tour of Braves Field by combining Ralph’s first-hand recollection with modern multimedia resources. Visitors can trace the steps of past players and patrons, following along with Brady's insight and images to put
themselves in the ballpark and gain a new perspective of the venue fans see today.

The tour is intended for small groups and takes 30-45 minutes. The route can be modified for accessibility needs. Tours are scheduled upon request by emailing Brady at [email protected]. Please include your full name, cell phone number, and ideal days / times of the week. Including any connection to Braves Field is a bonus!

Tours are offered on a complimentary basis and are subject to the permission of Boston University and the schedule of events at Nickerson Field.
