Finally got to check out Franklin Park Zoo’s new outdoor gorilla habitat last month, where I was graciously welcomed by local residents. 🦍🍃

I was actually framing another shot when this huge, graceful matriarch centered herself right in my frame, parking herself (6) inches from the glass and locking her gaze squarely on me for what felt like forever. The lone zookeeper behind me gasped. It was intense. It was magical. 🥹

Now—was a gorilla plotting to kill me?
Possibly.

Did she maybe just want a fresh headshot?
Also likely.

Either way: I’d give this ape encounter a 13,000/10. 👍✨
