The New England chapter of the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals had a good turnout for its annual summer meeting today. Commissioner Kevin Gaffney of the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation and Commissioner Andrew Mais of the Connecticut Insurance Department were the guest speakers. The Insurance Library Assn of Boston held an ice cream social for area interns who are working at local carriers and agencies. They had a fun afternoon learning about the library and socializing with insurance professionals.
The Essex/Middlesex chapter of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women (MAIW) held its first "Chopped" Cook-Off to benefit its scholarship program. Participants Ruth DeSantis of Cleary Insurance, Emily Leblanc of Cross Insurance, Josephine Salamanca of Prime Insurance Services, Inc., Maria Iocco of AAA, Tara Philbin of PHILBIN INSURANCE GROUP and Lisa Marciano of Appleby & Wyman Insurance Agency worked against the clock to create a meal of a mystery basket of ingredients. It was a close call, but Tara and Lisa were declared the winners. Congratulations to all of them for being such good sports!

Panelists Kristy Furrer from Woodruff Sawyer, Dawnmarie Black from Lloyd's and Anita Farmer from Lockton Companies joined moderator Isabelle Therrien from Falvey Insurance Group for an in-depth discussion on women in insurance.

More than 350 people attended the Workers Compensation Research Institute - WCRI 38th annual issues and research conference. The theme was emerging and learning from disruption. Speakers included Dr. Robert Hartwig of University of South Carolina, Dr. Bogdan Savych, Dr. Vennela Thumula, economist Dongchun Wang, author Joe Keohane and a panel discussion with Dr. Sebastian Negrusa, Craig Ross Liberty Mutual Insurance, Denise Algire Albertsons and Dan Allen Construction Industry Service Corporation.
It was great fun to catch up with Young Agents MA last night — including some we have featured in our annual "Spotlight on Young Agents" issue!

The Boston Chapter of the The Institutes CPCU Society celebrated its 70th anniversary at its I-Day event. There was a great turnout of members and new designees who enjoyed a day of classes and networking. Sessions were taught by Heather Blevins of State Farm, Laura Gregory of Sloane and Walsh, Jessica Eldridge of J.S. Held and Shameem Awan of Amica Mutual. Sharon Koches was the conferment officer and John Donohue, CEO of Arbella Insurance, was the keynote speaker.

Kristin Camarra of Camber Insurance Agency served as moderator with panelists Phyllis Riordan of Fred C. Church Insurance, Glynnis Walbridge of Hutchins & Threatt Insurance, and Christine Nemet of Rodman Insurance Agency, a Division of Brown & Brown of Massachusetts LLC.
The Plymouth chapter of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women (MAIW) learned about recent changes in flood insurance from expert Joe Flood Rossi. Rossi is pictured with board members Paula Doherty of Eastern Insurance Group LLC, Marge Libby of Gordon Atlantic Insurance, Julie Merry of Arbella Insurance and Christina Sheehan of Eastern Insurance Group LLC.
The chapter also collected numerous donations for a program at the Plymouth Public Library to make care kits for people experiencing homelessness. Well done! 👏
