The Flaws in the VA System: A Veteran's Perspective
From W.A.R[We Are Resilient]

In this powerful episode, I speak with Frank Larkin, a U.S. Navy SEAL veteran and former Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. Senate, about his journey from the battlefield to public leadership and the mission that continues to drive him today.

Frank opens up about his son Ryan, who followed in his footsteps to become a Navy SEAL. After multiple combat deployments, Ryan faced an undiagnosed blast-related brain injury that went untreated after leaving the military. Tragically, he lost his life to su***de.

Frank shares how Ryan’s story revealed a deeper issue. He believes trauma to the brain caused by repeated blast exposure is often misdiagnosed or overlooked as PTSD. This sheds new light on the history of “shellshock” dating back to World War I and the unseen toll of modern warfare on our veterans.

This conversation is a heartfelt call to action for awareness, research, and community support to help those facing invisible wounds.

Thank you, Frank, for your courage and advocacy.

This episode and the book “I Could Have Been One” are part history lessons and part biography, so my reading experience was different.
After reading “I Could Have Been One,” by Navy veteran and author Donald Jeffries, I had questions. These ranged from what our country was like to what it may become.
Jeffries shares his military experiences, reflections on socialism and communism, and his return to the Christian faith. The discussion covers historical events like the Maddox incident, the impact of political ideologies on society, and the suppression of religious groups in communist regimes.
Donald emphasizes the importance of understanding history to grasp current political climates. The episode aims to educate listeners on these complex topics through Jeffries' unique insights.
You can purchase “I Could Have Been One” from Amazon (https://a.co/d/6QzftbD).
Thank you for talking with me, Donald!
