Our mystery-themed Spring Flash Fiction Contest was our best yet. The writing was strong and the stories were unique and fun to read. Thank you to everyone who participated.

There were three stories that stood out from the pack, and though we can only publish two, we want to honor Lauren Eve for her story, "The Missing Piece," about young love and the secrets we'll keep and the lengths we're willing to go to protect it.

Great job, and keep turning those pages!

As a genre fiction publication created by—and for!—Emerson College students and alums, nothing gives us more pleasure than celebrating the literary achievements of our peers. This week at Page Turner Magazine, we’re taking a break from judging submissions to highlight a novel written by one of our college’s distinguished graduates, Academy Award-nominated Jeff Arch.

Usually you hear of people making the leap from page to screen, but Arch has done the reverse—more than 28 years after penning the screenplay for the beloved hit rom-com, Sleepless in Seattle, the Emerson College alum (Class of ’76) published his first novel, Attachments, in May.

Continue reading Arch’s story on our website.

There are only a few hours left to submit your stories to Volume Two. We love all genres, but we'd love to see more young adult fiction submissions...wink wink, nudge nudge, to all those YA writers.

The last of the stories included in Volume One is Kelly's YA story 'The Ones Left Behind' about those select few who avoided the tantalizing call of the Pied Piper. We simply couldn't leave it out of last year's publication.

If you have any tantalizing fiction, there's just enough time to share it with us before submissions close.

01/21/2022

You have one day left to submit your story in time to join the second edition.

Give your story one last read through and then send it our way. All popular fiction genres accepted.

Good luck Emerson writers! We look forward to reading your work.

One of my favorite stories from Vol 1 is 'Woman of Water' by Ashley Hill.

Hill's beautiful prose and heartbreaking fairytale captured our hearts last year. For those who write fantasy or fairytales, your writing could find its home in the pages of Vol 2.

Check out our website to read 'Woman of Water' and to submit your own short fiction before the jan 21 deadline.

Fun fact: The number three can be written two ways, either with a flat or a rounded top. The flat top variation was introduced as a way to reduce fraud, since sneaky snakes could easily change the number three to an eight. We're team round top, as you can see, since we love to live dangerously! We're also team submit your short stories before the submission deadline in three days...so get to it!

Time to start writing!

Full details on submissions can be found on our website, at the link in our bio.

Completely by chance, on the exact same day last year we received two captivating science fiction submissions about factory workers in dystopian futures. It wasn't a class assignment or a writing group prompt, it was completely random that both authors chose to share their writing on that day. It made me love the stories all the more, and we decided to bookended our first issue with these great sci-fi pieces.

Issue one opens with Jerry Yap's Factory 147 and ends with Emma Brackett's Replacement.

Read both stories at our website and be sure to submit your story before our Jan 21 deadline because who knows, it could be your lucky day.
