To fill a need for truth based media The Real News began broadcasting in 2009 at MIT's college radio station, WMBR 88.1FM. When the original host and creator Matt Davidson graduated in 2011, the show came to an abrupt halt. Thankfully in 2012 co-hosts Frank Capone and Drea Romi with the help of Occupy Boston Radio revived The Real News and moved it to http://www.obr.fm where you could still liste

Then in the summer of 2014 Encuentro 5, where OBR's studio is located, moved to a new location and The Real News stopped broadcasting live. Frank went on to host The Yung Jurks on WEMF Radio from their Cambridge studios. His show is now also syndicated on Activate Tuesdays and Wednesdays in The Real News time slot. Drea was invited to join Science for the People at MIT and is currently heading her own consulting firm, The-Regular.com, that works on a sliding scale for small, sustainable businesses. An investigation by Al Jazeera Arabic has found that thermal and thermobaric munitions, also known as vacuum or aerosol bombs, have "evaporated" Palestinians whose bodies have not been recoverable after Israeli attacks. Civil defense teams in Gaza have recorded 2,842 people whose deaths could only be identified through biological traces such as blood spray or small fragments of flesh, attributed to U.S.-manufactured weapons.

Thermobaric weapons generate extreme heat in excess of 2,500 degrees Celsius or 4,500 degrees Fahrenheit, and can thus "vaporize" their targets. They have also been used in the war between Russia and Ukraine and the U.S. war on Afghanistan.

“I went into the mosque and found myself stepping on flesh and blood,” Yasmin Mahani told Al Jazeera Arabic about searching for her son's body after an Israeli strike on a school in 2024. “We found nothing of Saad. Not even a body to bury. That was the hardest part.”
