Our joy pusha of the week is one who evokes memories with her teas, tonics, and special blends. Anabel Primiterio of is that girl.

What makes her life a beautiful resistance?

“My life is a beautiful resistance because I choose to honor and be a vessel for the healing traditions our Black and brown lineages created to sustain ourselves from our own backyards, or in this case, cultures.

Every product I create is a way of preserving what our elders taught us, reclaiming wellness as something that belongs to Black and brown people, and proving that our origins are powerful enough to sustain us. Ines Organics allows me to create, to heal, and to uplift — turning cultural memory into everyday nourishment.” 🖤🌱

We love to celebrate a joy pusha. Today, it’s , a stylist and creative consultant, and founder of .

What makes his life a beautiful resistance?

“Showing up in spaces where I’m the only one and being able to thrive anyway,” he says. “But also making sure I am giving back, opening the doors and making sure that though I may be the only one that I don’t stay the only one. It’s about charting a path and showing what’s possible.” 🖤🌱

Cheers to all the space makers.

Our Story

Jeneé Osterheldt is a culture columnist at The Kansas City Star and 2017 Harvard Nieman Fellow. She joined the paper in 2001 as an intern covering pop culture and hip-hop before moving on to intern for The Contra Costa Times in California and The Pioneer Press in Minnesota. She returned to the Star in 2002 as a music critic and nightlife columnist. In 2008, she transitioned to lifestyle column writing. Her beat covered everything from Rachel Dolezal to the unapologetic blackness of Beyoncé's Formation. The NAACP of Olathe honored her as a diversity advocate on MLK Day 2016.

Osterheldt is a Virginia native and graduated from Norfolk State University with a bachelor’s in journalism in 2001. She has been a Knight Ridder rotating intern, launched “The Scenario” nightlife column at The Star and spent her year at Harvard exploring the role of pop culture and the arts in shaping identity and social justice movements. Her work has appeared in Essence, Rolling Out, KicksOnFire.com and most recently, Very Smart Brothas.

She recently returned to The Star as a culture columnist, where her columns speak truth to power. She concentrates on identity through the lens of pop culture, politics and the arts. She's taken on Trump, sexism and unapologetically writes about how post-racial America is not a reality for black people. For her, being a journalist is not simply a job or a career. It is a responsibility.
