So filled with joy from all the people who participated in last week’s open mic and mini craft fair! With your help, we were able to raise $500 for our Q***r Black Friends’ housing needs!

Please follow for future updates on the family’s ongoing efforts to secure stable housing and reach out to us if you have ideas for more arts events we can organize around community needs.

Emerging Boston artist, Barefoot Chandy, found his way into songwriting and musicianship as a way to process trauma, mental health and the world around him. His artistic journey began as a street busker in Philadelphia, where he collaborated with organizations to provide access to music education to communities where music had been removed from the curriculum. He has performed in world renowned venues including World Cafe Live, The Apollo, and was featured on Dreamnation tv's Acapella Series. Chandy moved to Boston three years ago, where he works as a music teacher, and more recently, has also begun working on his debut album “Resilient Child”.

Robbie Pate is a Boston based vocalist and pianist. He studied at Berklee College of Music & New England Conservatory until 2016. After his studies, Robbie went on to teach the Gospel Choir at The Groton School and Boston Trinity Academy, and has most notably toured in Russia in the Fall of 2018 with the Alexey Podymkin Jazz Quartet.
Robbie currently performs all around the Boston area, including a weekly residency at Eddie Vs in Boston.

“My name is Mayté. I am an intuitive artist. I paint illustrations of BIPOC folks in nature, healing, experiencing liberation and joy while connecting to source + ancestor. Most of my paintings come to me through meditation. My art is a visual representation of that sacred intentional pause and the freedom that comes from it.”

We are one week away from our Fundraiser Open Mic and mini craft fair to help a Q***r Black family in need of housing support!

It’s time to meet our first vendor,

“My name is Sumeya Ali and I have been painting and creating art for 4 years. I am a Black (immigrant) Muslim woman, these social identities have allowed me to reconsider what it means to live with purpose. I dedicate my art to being a form of meditation and self contemplation because I am discovering more about myself each time I paint. I study sociology at Simmons university which has helped me further develop my understanding of the social systems we function within. The purpose of my work is to not only provide myself with the opportunities of healing and self actualization but to make space for others to do this also."
