Seven Juveniles Arrested After Two Stolen Vehicles Lead Police on Multi-Town Pursuits | November 29, 2025

Norwood, MA - A series of overnight pursuits involving two stolen vehicles ended early Saturday morning with seven juveniles in custody after coordinated efforts by multiple police departments along Route 1.

At approximately 1:50 AM, Norwood Officer Tyler Baker observed two vehicles leave the Mobil station on Route 1, make an illegal U-turn at Dean Street, and flee when he attempted a traffic stop. Officer Meegan soon located the vehicles farther north and confirmed one, an Infiniti SUV, was stolen. Minutes later, officers learned the second vehicle, a red Lincoln, had just been stolen from Pleasant Street and that both cars were connected to a shoplifting incident at the Mobil station.

A northbound pursuit continued into Westwood and Dedham, where Dedham Police took over. The Infiniti later crashed at Route 1 and Washington Street. Four juveniles fled; officers located two female juveniles near Lowe’s and transported them to Boston Medical Center with minor injuries. A third juvenile was detained at the crash scene, while the driver fled and was not found.

While officers managed that crash, the stolen Lincoln was spotted again, prompting a second pursuit southbound on Route 1. A Westwood officer initiated the chase, and Norwood Officer Dixon later maintained visual contact until the pursuit was terminated near the Walpole-Foxboro line.

Shortly afterward, Foxboro Police deployed spike strips, deflating the Lincoln’s tires. The vehicle crashed into a guardrail several miles south. All occupants were detained and transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Once cleared, the driver was taken to the Norwood Police Department for booking. All juveniles will face charges.

In total, seven juveniles, ages 13 to 15, were involved, four females and three males, six from Boston and one from Worcester.

The incident required extensive multi-agency coordination. Norwood Police thanked Dedham, Westwood, Walpole, Foxboro, Wrentham, and the Massachusetts State Police for their assistance throughout the night.

Coast Guard Rescues Mariner 255 Miles Offshore After Vessel Loses Rudder & Engine | November 21, 2025

Chatham, MA — A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod crew rescued the sole mariner aboard the disabled sailing vessel PORTO late Friday afternoon, after the vessel lost both rudder control and engine power more than 250 miles southeast of Chatham.

Around 4 p.m., the Coast Guard received a distress relay from Rescue Coordination Center Halifax regarding a mayday call made by the nearby sailing vessel Life of Reily III. The PORTO reported total loss of steering and propulsion, leaving the mariner considering abandoning ship into a dinghy. The vessel had no EPIRB, no life raft, no immersion suits, and no survival gear, with only a handheld VHF for communication.

The crew of Life of Reily III stayed on scene to maintain communications until Coast Guard assets arrived.

Due to the extreme distance offshore, Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod launched both an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft. The HC-144 arrived first, established communications, and provided a hoisting brief while the Jayhawk refueled in Nantucket.

Upon arrival, the MH-60 Jayhawk crew safely hoisted the mariner from the vessel and transported him to Hyannis Regional Airport.
