3-Alarm Fire in Dorchester Damages Normandy Street Home | December 12, 2025

DORCHESTER, MA - Boston firefighters battled a three-alarm fire around 8 p.m. last night at a three-family home at 20 Normandy St.

Flames extended through the roof, prompting a third alarm. More than 80 firefighters responded, deploying over 1,000 feet of hose lines, multiple ground and aerial ladders, and dozens of air bottles. Crews successfully stopped the fire from spreading to neighboring homes.

Deputy Chief Brian Tully briefed the media on scene. There were no injuries reported, and officials said the sole resident was not home at the time.

The Boston Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit will determine the cause. Frigid temperatures caused water to freeze on contact, creating hazardous conditions.

Fire officials thanked A-10 for salting streets and providing warm drinks and hand warmers to crews.
