Flames Tear Through Tractor Trailer and Cars Overnight in Chelsea

Chelsea, MA — November 5th, 2025 - Just after 4AM, firefighters from Chelsea and Everett responded to Market Street following multiple reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a tractor trailer fully involved, with flames extending to several nearby vehicles.

Because the incident was a line box for both departments, Chelsea struck a working fire, and firefighters from both cities worked together to bring the blaze under control. After about an hour, the fire was knocked down, with companies conducting overhaul operations before clearing the scene.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by Everett Fire and Police.

Two Men Arrested for Explosion at Harvard Medical School
Boston, MA - November 4, 2025

Federal authorities have arrested two Massachusetts men accused of setting off a firework that caused an explosion inside a Harvard Medical School building early Saturday morning.

According to the FBI Boston Field Office, Logan David Patterson, 18, of Plymouth, and Dominick Frank Cardoza, 20, of Bourne, were arrested November 4 by members of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and Harvard University Police.

Investigators say the pair used a Roman candle-style firework to ignite an explosion around 2:45 a.m. on November 1 inside a locker on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building. The blast triggered a fire alarm but caused only minor damage and no injuries.

Surveillance footage shows the suspects climbing a fence, entering a construction area, and scaling scaffolding to access the building before fleeing.

Both are charged federally with conspiracy to damage property by means of fire or an explosive. Officials say it was “by luck” no one was hurt.

An early morning explosion inside a Harvard Medical School building in Boston is being investigated as an intentional act, police said. No injuries were reported.

The blast occurred around 2:48 a.m. on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building at 220 Longwood Avenue. A Harvard University Police officer responding to a fire alarm saw two people running from the building but was unable to stop them.

Brush Fire Contained Near Residence in Wellfleet

Wellfleet, MA — November 1, 2025 | 2:10 AM

Early Saturday morning, Wellfleet Fire Department responded to reports of a utility pole fire in the area of Wellfleet Woods Lane. When crews arrived, they discovered a brush fire roughly 100 feet by 40 feet burning toward a nearby home.

Firefighters quickly went to work — deploying a deck gun and handline to protect the residence and stop the flames from spreading. The fire was brought under control within minutes, and firefighters remained on scene to extinguish remaining hot spots.

Fortunately, no one was injured, and the home sustained no damage. The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental.

As the fall season continues, officials are reminding residents to maintain defensible space around their homes. Clearing vegetation and debris within five feet of structures can help prevent the spread of wildfire.

Mansfield Firefighters Call for Increased Staffing Amid Rising Emergency Calls

Mansfield, MA - October 31, 2025

The Mansfield Fire Department is calling for staffing changes, citing a sharp increase in emergency responses and growing safety concerns as personnel levels remain unchanged.

According to Mansfield Firefighters Local 1820, crews have responded to 3,433 emergency calls between January 1 and October 27, 2025 - an increase of 187 incidents compared to the same period last year.

Despite the rise in calls, the department continues to operate with a minimum eight firefighters per shift, staffing two two-person engines and two two-person ambulances. Officials note that the East Street ambulance is cross-staffed with the department’s Tower Ladder, meaning only one of the two can be in service at any given time.

Union leaders say current staffing levels fall well below NFPA 1710 standards, which recommend four firefighters per engine or ladder and 15 personnel on the initial alarm for a single-family home fire, nearly double their current staffing levels.

Understaffing impacts both the effected department, as well as surrounding departments who may be more heavily relied upon for mutual aid.

“Growing demands and stagnant staffing are increasing the risk to both our firefighters and the residents we serve,” the union said in a statement.

Looking ahead, the department says its responsibilities continue to expand beyond traditional emergency response, with a growing focus on Community EMS and Public Health programs to support elderly, medically fragile, and behavioral health populations.

“These changes aren’t about growth for the sake of growth,” the statement continued. “They’re about building a department that can safely meet the needs of our residents — today and tomorrow.”

Operation “BUSted” Launched in Falmouth to Protect Student Safety

Falmouth, MA – October 30th, 2025 — This morning, the Falmouth Police Department’s Community Engagement Team kicked off Operation “BUSted,” a targeted traffic enforcement initiative aimed at catching drivers who ignore school bus stop signals.

Officers followed local school buses along their routes, watching closely for motorists who failed to stop for the bus’s red flashing lights — a serious and dangerous violation that puts children’s lives at risk.

The department says the goal of the operation is not only enforcement but education — reminding drivers of the rules of the road and the importance of slowing down and stopping when school buses are loading or unloading students.

Throughout the day, officers will continue to monitor school zones, following buses and running RADAR to ensure safe travel for all students.

Cohasset, MA - October 30, 2025
An Amazon delivery driver caused an early morning commuter disruption Thursday after mistakenly turning onto the train tracks near North Main Street by the Hingham line.

According to first responders, the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. when the driver, apparently following GPS directions, drove their vehicle directly onto the MBTA Commuter Rail tracks. The vehicle became stuck just as an inbound train was approaching the nearby station.

Train service was immediately halted, with one train forced to remain at the station while crews worked to clear the scene. A wrecker was dispatched to remove the car, and commuter rail passengers experienced significant delays on the Greenbush Line during the morning rush.

No injuries were reported, and the driver was safely escorted off the tracks before any trains arrived.

Officials are still advising riders to expect residual delays while service resumed.
