Something really cool happened recently when my friend Jill Mastroianni, who hosts The Death Readiness Podcast, forwarded me a note from Kate, a listener.

Kate had just flown across the country to visit her 80+ year-old parents. On the plane, she listened to my conversation with Jill about how to talk to your parents about getting help at home.

When she arrived, she downloaded and printed the checklists we talked about… and used them to sit down with her mom and dad.

After four years of trying to get them to think a little more deeply about their wishes, she said they had “the most open dialogue to date.”

I thought "How cool is that?" I just sat there grinning at my screen when I read that. 🧡
Those quiet little wins in real families are what keep me doing this work.

And if you’re heading home to visit aging parents and want the same checklists Kate used, just message me here or email me at [email protected] and I’ll send them along.

If you have aging parents — or are the parent everyone worries about — this episode is for you. ❤️

I had the joy of joining Jill Mastroianni, Estate Attorney, Founder of Death Readiness, and Host of The Death Readiness Podcast, for a real and practical conversation about how families can navigate aging with grace, safety, and dignity.

Jill is an extraordinary host — insightful, compassionate, and deeply experienced. We talked about how to start small, plan early, and keep independence at the center of every decision.

It’s honest. Helpful. And a conversation every family should have before a crisis hits.

📖 Just finished The 5 Types of Wealth by Sahil Bloom and it shook me.👉 Grab it here: https://amzn.to/47w6jooA friend once told Sahil: “You see your parents once a year. They’re in their mid-sixties. That means you’ll see them maybe fifteen more times before they die.”Fifteen. More. Times. That hit me too — and it made me rethink how I spend my time, and who I truly want in my circle. This book is a powerful reminder that wealth isn’t just money — it’s time, relationships, health, mindset, and financial stability.💡 If you’ve been chasing “busy,” this is the wake-up call you need.

2½ years. That’s how long my long-time clients would have had to wait for their dream assisted living community. The best places fill up fast — and waiting until you “need it” can leave you with no options. So! 1. Tour early. 2. Get on at least 3 waitlists. 3. Have a backup plan.💡 Comment CHECKLIST for my free Assisted Living & Housing Checklist.

🚨 One Surprise Call = Benefits Canceled 🚨.

My client lost her long-term care benefits after the insurance company called out of the blue with “just a few questions.” They sounded friendly… but they were ADL questions that decide if you still qualify. She wasn’t prepared — and two weeks later, her claim was closed and benefits stopped.

When I meet with clients, the first thing I ask is: Have you read the fine print? If you don’t know what’s in your policy, you can’t use it — and the insurance company won’t go out of their way to tell you.💡 Want my Smart Start Kit with the exact checklist I use 📥 Comment “KIT” below and I’ll send it right to you.📌
