Something really cool happened recently when my friend Jill Mastroianni, who hosts The Death Readiness Podcast, forwarded me a note from Kate, a listener.
Kate had just flown across the country to visit her 80+ year-old parents. On the plane, she listened to my conversation with Jill about how to talk to your parents about getting help at home.
When she arrived, she downloaded and printed the checklists we talked about… and used them to sit down with her mom and dad.
After four years of trying to get them to think a little more deeply about their wishes, she said they had “the most open dialogue to date.”
I thought "How cool is that?" I just sat there grinning at my screen when I read that. 🧡
Those quiet little wins in real families are what keep me doing this work.
