I had the opportunity to sit down with and he shared with me some of the sources of anxiety unique to the industry. The long hours and isolation he describes are ideal conditions to bond a group of hardworking actors and crew together - but what happens when that is all over? Your support system is gone and frequently you're facing the unknown.
This mental health awareness month we decided to invest in helping normalize safe sets around the industry by being proud sponsors of the film "Another Happy Day" slated to begin shooting in August. They are daring to ask questions like "why can't shoots be 8 hours, allowing people to see their families?" and "What if we made sure all parents involved had childcare options provided or covered?"
The result will be a truly safe and healthy set, one that looks at the whole of the cast & crew and makes decisions based on the humans that work there. We are honored to be able to be part of it.
