Pretty data... we've been diving headlong into cartography at MFM. This started as an aerial orthographic photomosaic map of my own mountain property. This version shows 1ft contours and elevation heat map extracted from the aerial map data. I love learning new stuff (QGIS has been a cool new powerful tool). .

We often find that aerial photos work best when they're relatively low. It allows you to forget it was done from the air and enter the image without that distraction. What's your take?

Some thoughts about producing dynamic interior architectural images.

Bringing an exciting interior image to life begins with the composition, followed by carefully addressing lighting, staging and then any problem areas in exposure during the editing stage. This takes a keen eye, time and discipline during the shoot and in post editing.

Sometimes in architectural photography, what's there isn't enough. This Spring we shot a model home for a new development at Big Sky, MT where we could not light the fireplace, so it fell to me to add some fire. I prefer using an image of real fire, as in this case, a campfire from a family trip to WY, when I can work it in. Without it, the image was missing a little 'sparkle'.

South on 101 ---Redwood Highway. What can I say!? This is "Magic Factor". !! Early am, bit of fog, just enough 400 yr old redwood to add some filter. This is iPhone. Can't wait to see the medium format image. Almost dropped $20k of equipment in the rush!
