Spartacus: House of Ashur (2025) – The Blood-Soaked Return to Rome’s Darkest Arena
After years of silence, the Spartacus saga is making a thunderous return with Spartacus: House of Ashur (2025), an intense and brutal continuation of the legendary Starz series. Under the direction of original creator Steven S. DeKnight, this new chapter dares to ask: What if Ashur (Nick Tarabay) survived the events of Spartacus: Vengeance?
Now, with Spartacus (Liam McIntyre) dead, the gladiator uprising crushed, and Rome reasserting its dominance, Ashur is rewarded for his treachery with power. He seizes control of Batiatus’ former ludus, forging it into a new empire of blood and ambition. But the sands of the arena remain ruthless, and Ashur soon finds himself entangled in a brutal struggle against new gladiators, vengeful rebels, and Rome’s elite, all vying for control.
Returning to the fray is the ruthless Lucretia (Lucy Lawless), whose fate was left uncertain in Spartacus: Vengeance, along with Gannicus (Dustin Clare), the undefeated champion who once turned his back on the rebellion but may yet seek vengeance. Varinius (Brett Tucker), a rising Roman senator, sees Ashur’s growing power as both an opportunity and a threat, while Naevia (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), still bearing the scars of Rome’s cruelty, seeks justice by any means necessary.
With Graham McTavish as a retired gladiator forced back into the fight, Tenika Davis as a fearless warrior enslaved by Rome, and Ivana Baquero as a noblewoman caught in a deadly web of political intrigue, the series is set to deliver a storm of violence, betrayal, and ambition.
Expect the signature Spartacus experience—visceral combat, treacherous alliances, and unrelenting political scheming, all wrapped in the stunningly raw visual style that made the original series unforgettable. As blood spills on the sands once more, who will rise, and who will fall?
