We are pleased to announce that we recently published a wonderful new book of poetry: Across the Difficult: With Rabia of Basra and Others by Tamam Kahn. Rooted in her research on women from early Islam, Tamam explores the difficulties faced by—and the wisdom emerging through—early Muslim and Sufi women, and women of today who face incredibly trying circumstances. Around 1960, Meshullam Zalman Schachter, a Habad Hasid and Hillel Director at the University of Manitoba, composed and printed what was perhaps the first Jewish meditation manual in English called The First Step, which went on to influence a generation of Jewish spiritual seekers.
