This is that post, one that I am hating to write while my heart continues to break. Jubilee left us Monday, February 23.
We took Jubilee to the vet for a check up, and I noted some new behaviors so we did an ultrasound. They found that her chemo had stopped working and the tumor had spread to her intestines and lymph nodes.
When we got her we made a commitment that we would fight and take care of her as long as she was willing to fight. Leading up to this, her energy levels changed dramatically. Her mind and soul would want to go to work or walks or car rides, but her body could not keep up. We knew it was time. We gave her one amazing weekend with walks, pup cups, steak, and all of her favorite things.
A vet came to our house and helped Jubilee pass across the rainbow bridge to heaven. She got prosciutto and a thin mint before her journey and went peacefully in my arms.
I am still processing this loss of my best friend, but I am so thankful during her life we were able to build a platform of spreading love and kindness. I’m thankful for your support, through her autoimmune disease, and her battle with cancer.
The funds we have raised will be donated to charity to help more blind dogs. I’m not sure what’s going to happen to this account, I may share my grief, I’ll share the happy memories and who knows what will happen. I trust the Spirit to lead us there.
Loving through a broken heart,
Natalie and John
