In this KGNU interview, two-time Grammy nominee Samantha Fish talks about her new album, Paper Doll, the unique way it was recorded between tour dates, and the live album Paper Doll Live, recorded at The Bijou in Knoxville.

Fish also reflects on growing up in a musical family in Kansas City, picking up the guitar after starting on drums, and discovering at a young age that performing was what she wanted to do. She discusses her current touring band, her approach to building an energetic and dynamic set, and why nothing can replace the experience of live music.

Fish will perform in Colorado this September, including a September 18 show at the Boulder Theater.

Residents in Boulder’s Whittier neighborhood are hoping the city can find a way to keep a local swimming pool open beyond next year.

A budget shortfall may force the closure of the Spruce pool after the summer of 2027. The city manager’s new budget proposal sets aside about $134,000 for next year. But after that, there is no funding currently available.

The city is facing a budget deficit of more than 6 million dollars. And while no decision has been made to close the Spruce Street pool, they’re looking at all possible cost-cutting measures.

A proposal on the November ballot would authorize up to $400 million in city debt, if voters approve it. But even if it passes, it might not be enough to save the pool.

Boulder residents have been swimming at what evolved into the Spruce pool for more than a hundred years, according to Boulder Reporting Lab.
