Why is nature so beneficial to our physical and mental health? Nature sounds can improve relaxation, reduce stress and increase alertness. Nature therapy is the practice of being outdoors to increase healing. Erica is a health promotion specialist for SelectHealth. She was a student athlete at the University of Utah playing lacrosse and has coached local teams for eight years. She is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and finding enjoyment while doing so. She is a former librarian who enjoys reading, especially Hemingway. She enjoys traveling the world with her husband and children to explore culture and making incredible memories. Her most recent work has been studying the correlation between nature and its impact on physical and mental health. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

When is the last time you saw a kind act between strangers? Kindness is contagious and all of us have the power to be kind to others, producing happy consequences. Tom is a husband, father of two, and TV and Film Producer. He is a new resident of Bountiful and grew up in Texas. His most recent and ongoing work is being the Executive Producer on the TV Show Random Acts for BYUtv. His company, London Road Productions, is based in Bountiful. He loves to swim with his kids, read, travel, and of course play pickle ball. Tom actively believes that “Kindness is hard. Criticism is easy… We should choose the hard thing. We should choose to practice kindness and gratitude. Can manufacturers use environmentally friendly plastics? Research is making progress in plastics that rapidly disintegrate to be broken down by nature. Jeff is a professor at the University of Utah in Materials Science and Engineering. He works with polymer materials, and applications of his research are in the biodegradable/sustainable polymer materials; biomedical materials that include soft robotics, sensors, and drug delivery methods; and materials used in skiing, especially as they relate to determining and enhancing glide performance.
