As the 2024 Maine Deer season ended today I can’t help but reflect on what time I was able to spend in the woods this year and the country these amazing creatures took me through. Congratulations to all that were successful. Can’t wait for the 2025 season!

For all the disabled veterans out there with a Maine disabled veteran hunting license. Great opportunity!

As in years’ past, we are again partnering with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife (IF&W) and Smoldering Lake Outfitters to provide permits, individual guides for the hunters, and all equipment for the hunt.

IF&W has allocated moose hunting permits for disabled veterans who are residents of Maine – and a small group of non-resident disabled veterans – to participate in the Controlled Moose Hunt.

This hunt is not like the regular IF&W moose lottery, as it requires each hunter to team up with a registered Maine Guide who has specific training for the Controlled Moose Hunt.

Please note that this is a one-time hunt. If you have ever tagged a moose through the Disabled Veterans' Controlled Moose Hunt, you are ineligible to hunt again.

This last week, we had the incredible honor and privilege to host the All American Heroes Foundation and take five Veterans into the backcountry of Wyoming for three days. This is something we started doing last season and will continue to do so each year as a way to say thank you to those who served. This season, Wyoming High Country Lodge generously donated three nights of lodging and food for these veterans.

Snowmobiling is one of the greatest ways to forget all your troubles in the real world. Throttle therapy is real. In a country founded on the whole premise of freedom, there’s not many hobbies or sports that encapsulate the definition of freedom quite as well as backcountry snowmobiling. We are fortunate to have hundreds of thousands of acres of National Forest in our backyard to explore. This didn’t happen by accident.

We also feel that having the freedom of choice is one of this country’s greatest virtues. We are able to start a snowmobile guide and rental company without having to serve in the military because so many are willing to do it voluntarily and protect these freedoms.

These five gentleman served in our nation’s military voluntarily. It doesn’t matter what your role in the military was to us, we will always have the utmost respect to those who choose to serve. The absolute least we can do is provide them with an experience like backcountry snowmobiling. An experience that we hope lasts beyond generations. Thank you for your service and thank you for giving us your time. 🤟🏻
