Back in the day, the FAA, in its wisdom and with input from the aviation community, upped the ante for those aspiring to become an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot). One of the key requirements now? A pilot needs a robust 1,500 hours of flight time under their belt.
My journey in the skies began in 2005. After a significant break, I've recently reignited my passion for flying. Over the past year, I've amassed over 600 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC), a testament to my commitment and love for aviation.
Today marked a significant milestone. As I soared above Mobile Bay with two Navy Introductory Flight Evaluation (NIFE) students, the Hobbs meter clicked over to the 1,500th hour of PIC time for me. It was a moment of reflection and pride, highlighting the culmination of years of dedication to the craft.
Looking ahead, the aviation industry's hiring landscape has become challenging, with opportunities rare and competition fierce. Despite this, my sights are set on transitioning from the right seat of a Cessna 172 to the right seat of a commercial jet. I am now actively seeking a First Officer position, ready to bring my experience, passion, and precision to a new level of aviation. The journey continues, and the skies are calling.
