Western Kentucky University dedicated the building at its Friday ribbon-cutting, with numerous public figures, building donors and Western community members in attendance. Several involved in the facility reflected on the building, which was funded by $74.4 million from the Kentucky General Assembly, $7.5 million from Amy Chandler and David Chandler, and many donors, including 35 after whom additional spaces were named.

After dropping a 45-21 road decision to highly-regarded Toledo on Sept. 6, the Hilltoppers had an early bye week – a product of starting the season with a Week 0 home game against Sam Houston. That gave the Tops extra time to both correct what went wrong the last time out and prepare for Saturday’s opponent as Nevada (1-2) comes to town for a 6 p.m. matchup at Houchens-Smith Stadium.
