Well as one would say that was a heck of a storm season. Looking ahead the next couple days it’s pretty quiet. But I’ll continue to monitor the forecast because we all know August is full of surprises. Thanks for all the support of my followers couldn’t do this without you guys. As follows, multiple severe thunderstorm warnings are currently in effect, with winds of 60-75 mph and hail of nearly 1 inch anticipated. Given the intense thunder and lightning, residents are likely being awakened. It is advisable to monitor NOAA stations or local radio for updates, as nighttime storms can be particularly hazardous.

* Until 400 PM CDT.

* At 324 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles northeast of Dawson, or 13 miles west of Montevideo, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Milan, Watson and Lac Qui Parle State Park.

* At 755 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Campbell, or 18 miles north of Wheaton, moving east at 50 mph.

HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Northwest Iowa Minnesota Far Eastern South Dakota Northwest Wisconsin Lake Superior

* Effective this Friday night and Saturday morning from 935 PM until 400 AM CDT.

* Primary threats include... Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 80 mph possible Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Severe storms are expected to develop through mid/late-evening initially across western/north-central Minnesota and possibly far east/southeast South Dakota and northwest Iowa, before moving into east/northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin overnight. Large hail is possible, but damaging winds may become the most common hazard. Some tornado risk may exist as well.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 80 statute miles east and west of a line from 55 miles northwest of Ely MN to 35 miles southwest of Worthington MN. For a complete depiction of the watch see the associated watch outline update (WOUS64 KWNS WOU8).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.
