LAC QUI PARLE AND NORTHWESTERN YELLOW MEDICINE COUNTIES...
At 116 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles northeast of
Madison, or 19 miles northwest of Montevideo, moving northeast at 55
mph.
THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR MADISON, LOUISBURG.
HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and small hail.
SOURCE...Weather station reported.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect
considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.
Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.
Locations impacted include...
Porter, Burr, Canby, St. Leo, Florida Creek Wildlife Management
Area, Providence, Marietta, Nassau, Madison Airport, Dawson, Boyd,
Madison, Bellingham, Cerro Gordo, Lac Qui Parle State Park, Big
Stone National Wildlife Refuge and Louisburg.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
This is a dangerous situation with winds expected to produce damage
similar to a tornado. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of
a well-built structure. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are at
an enhanced risk for damage.

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of West-Central and Northwest Minnesota, Eastern North Dakota, and Northeast South Dakota
* Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 9:05 PM until 4:00 AM CDT.
* Primary threats include... Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts up to 80 mph likely, isolated large hail events up to 1.5 inches in diameter possible, and a tornado or two possible.

* At 854 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Odessa, or near Ortonville, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* This severe thunderstorm will be near... Artichoke Lake around 900 PM CDT. Artichoke and Correll around 910 PM CDT.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

Exercise heightened awareness of weather conditions today as severe weather is forecasted to impact southern Minnesota later this afternoon and into the evening.

Severe thunderstorms capable of producing gusty winds and small hail are expected to affect Central Lac Qui Parle, Northwestern Chippewa, and Western Swift counties until 12:30 PM CDT. At 11:47 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms near Madison, approximately 25 miles west of Montevideo, moving east at 30 mph. The primary hazards associated with these storms include wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny-sized hail.
