Our UK miniseries "You Sound Like You're From London" continues with a couple of movies that look to a future that contained within it an inevitable war. "Things to Come," written by H.G. Wells, imagines a world in which the war went on for decades, and could only be stopped by peace gas. In "Goodbye, Mr. Chips," Sam Wood shows us a more personal look at a life effected by war, and how it disrupts the connections we make.

Herbert Ponting's documentary about the 1910 expedition to the South Pole is a harrowing and crucial look at the art of documentary filmmaking. And Alfred Hitchcock's "The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog" is an interesting look at the early career of one of the most famous directors of all time.

Pain. Brad went to Japan, where Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s new movie All of a Sudden is playing. It won’t play in the U.S. until thanksgiving. But Brad doesn’t know Japanese, and Japanese theaters don’t have English subtitles. So it was all just a tease.
