From honoring our fallen heroes to feeling the support of our community, today was a meaningful one for BBPD. 🇺🇸💙

Early this morning, BBPD Recruits Brito-Simmons, de los Reyes and Crowder participated in Palm Beach State College’s 9/11 25th Anniversary Commemorative Stair Climb at the PBSC Public Safety Training Tower.

We also want to thank Texas Roadhouse and Publix for generously dropping off lunch for our team today. We truly appreciate you thinking of us and supporting those who serve our community.

Today, we honor and remember the lives lost and the sacrifices made on September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, the City of Boynton Beach continues to stand in remembrance of those we lost and in gratitude for the courage and service shown.

Following a lengthy investigation by the Boynton Beach Police Department’s Traffic Division, 35-year-old Michael Scott Bates of Lake Worth has been arrested and charged with Vehicular Homicide.

The investigation determined that Bates was driving at more than 100 mph when he struck 14-year-old Christopher Cetoute as he crossed North Congress Avenue on June 12, 2026. Christopher was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Bates turned himself in to the Palm Beach County Jail on September 10, 2026.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: BBPD is currently on scene of a traffic crash near S.W. 8th Street and Woolbright Road. The westbound lanes of Woolbright Road at 8th Street are currently closed. Drivers should seek alternate routes. We will provide an update when the road has reopened.

Through The Bridgman Foundation’s statewide partnership with Walmart, BBPD received a Bexley Box filled with essentials, toys, blankets, stuffed animals and other items to comfort children experiencing a traumatic crisis or separation from their caregivers.

Thank you to Walmart # 2789 Store Manager Bryant and AP Coach Nevin for stopping by to deliver this special resource for the children in our community.

Following a two-month investigation, Boynton Beach Police Street Crimes Unit and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Officers conducted an undercover operation on September 3 at an alleged illegal massage operation near the 400 block of South Federal Highway.

During the operation, 36-year-old Mariana Duran Montilla offered sexual services to an undercover officer for an additional fee. She was arrested on charges including Offering to Commit Prostitution, Unlicensed Practice of the Health Care Profession, Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The operation was a collaborative effort involving BBPD, the Florida Department of Health, Code Enforcement, and the City’s Development Services and Building Division.

Prostitution and related illicit activity can fuel violent crime, exploitation, human trafficking, and other criminal nuisance conditions that harm the community. The Boynton Beach Police Department remains fully committed to protecting residents and improving the quality of life throughout the community.

UPDATE: The roadway is now open.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: BBPD is currently on scene of a traffic crash near W. Gateway Blvd. and N. Federal Hwy. The northbound lanes of N. Federal Hwy. are currently closed at Intracoastal Park, 2240 N. Federal Hwy. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and seek an alternate route. We will provide an update once the roadway reopens.
