It was a special moment to walk into Movie Lovers to sign a copy of Rewind Documentary today. For over a decade (through film school and the making of Rewind), Movie Lovers has been “my spot” to explore the filmic archives, discover new-to-me films, and ultimately find inspiration. Wholesome walk-in movie rental stores like this are rare today. To me, they are living monuments that preserve the classic and nostalgic experience of discovering films. It’s my hope that when I have children, they will get to experience the excitement of browsing the shelves and eating the fresh popcorn. Movie Lovers, like so many mom and pop shops around the country, are struggling as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. This signed copy of REWIND will be auctioned off at some point to help raise some extra cash. If you’re in the Bozeman area, please consider supporting Movie Lovers. It’s super clean and COVID-19 compliant. If you have a place like Movie Lovers in your community, see how you can support them. While I love the convenience of streaming films and shows, nothing will ever replace the excitement of walking into Movie Lovers!
