In a meaningful and momentous ceremony, Seminole Indian Scouts Cemetery Association, La Casa of the Black Seminole Diaspora, Lipan Apache Band of Texas and Lipan Apache Tribe of Brackettville Texas and others gathered on Saturday, June 20, 2026, on the banks of Las Moras creek to exchange gifts and sign the Treaty of Kódeeslí’í (the Lipan Apache word for Las Moras Springs) affirming peace, care and mutual respect between them.
The historic program during SISCAs annual Juneteenth celebration marked a shared commitment to the unvarnished truth and entire history that has brought the groups together and the intention to move forward into the future with mutual honor, respect and care for one another.
