Flying solo with a baby?

Expectation: Peace. Nature. Zen.

Reality: Tripods, heat, and 3 people asking you to move mid-waddle. 🎋😅

But honestly? Still worth it.

Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is one of Kyoto’s most photographed spots — and once you step into it, you’ll see why.

The towering bamboo, the light, the sound (when it’s quiet for 5 seconds)... it is magical.

Just know:
- You won’t be alone
- You will see at least 4 content creators deep into their “aesthetic walk”
- And if you’re 5 months pregnant in 35°C? Bring water, patience, and sweat-proof confidence
- Bonus tip: Go early, and pair it with nearby temples or the monkey park for a full day in Arashiyama.

We traveled hours, rode 3 trains, 2 gondolas, and hiked into volcanic mist…
to eat a black egg. 🥚🌋

In Ōwakudani, near Hakone, these famous Kuro-Tamago (black eggs) are boiled in sulfur-rich hot spring water, which turns the shell jet black from the volcanic minerals.

Inside? Totally normal boiled egg.

Outside? A spooky-looking snack with a very eggstra backstory.

Legend says:
1 egg = 7 extra years of life.

We each ate one… just in case.

The taste?

Surprisingly mild. Slightly smoky. Very eggy.

But honestly — it’s not about the flavor.
